recommended. Using a different tune may result in less than
optimal performance.

This is a set of conditions for the operation
of a bicycle on a regular paved surface
where the tires are intended to maintain
ground contact.
This is a set of conditions for the operation
of a bicycle that includes Condition 1 as
well as unpaved and gravel roads and
trails with moderate grades. In this set
of conditions, contact with irregular terrain
and loss of tire contact with the ground
may occur. Drops are intended to be limited
to 15cm (6") or less.

The Salsa Bucksaw is a full-suspension fat bike designed for adventure riding, featuring a Split Pivot suspension system. It is available in both alloy and carbon frame versions, offering a balance of performance, durability, and a comfortable riding experience across varied terrain.

Function Description:

The Salsa Bucksaw is engineered to provide a stable and capable platform for off-road cycling, particularly excelling in conditions where traditional mountain bikes might struggle, such as snow, sand, or extremely rough trails. The Split Pivot suspension system is a key feature, designed to isolate braking forces from pedaling forces, ensuring efficient power transfer and consistent suspension performance. This design aims to offer excellent small bump compliance, traction, and control, making it suitable for aggressive riders and challenging environments. The bike's geometry is optimized for fat bike tires, providing increased floatation and grip.

  • Rebound Settings: Charts provide suggested starting rebound clicks (from full slow) for different rider weights for both rear shock and front fork, specific to the RockShox Monarch RT3 rear shock and Bluto front fork.
  • Low-Speed Compression: The Split Pivot design allows for efficient pedaling even in the "Descend/Unlocked" setting, with "Trail/Pedal" setting recommended for extended climbing and "Climb/Locked" for commuting.

Maintenance Features:

• Ongoing Maintenance Checklist:
  • Pivots: Check before every ride and tighten to specified torque. Apply thread lock as described in the service kit instructions.
  • Pivot Hardware: Inspect annually for wear/damage. Replace if damaged or if play cannot be eliminated.
  • Bearings: Check annually for smooth operation. Replace if rough, seized, or if there is slop.
• Service Kit Instructions: Detailed diagrams and tables for both alloy and carbon frames provide part numbers, descriptions, sizes, preparation instructions (e.g., grease, Loctite), torque specifications, and required tools for pivot service.
  • Torque Specifications: Specific torque values are provided for all pivot bolts (e.g., Main Pivot Bolt: 20Nm/14.7 ft-lb/177 in-lb; Floating Pivot Bolt: 13Nm/9.6 ft-lb/115 in-lb).
  • Preparation: Instructions for applying grease or Loctite to specific components during assembly.
  • Required Tools: Lists necessary tools such as hex keys, bearing press/pullers, and cone wrenches.
• Cleaning and Storage:
  • Frame Cleaning: Keep the frame clean to prevent oxidation, fading, and abrasion from dirt/grime.

  • Long-Term Storage: Clean and lubricate the frame with wax, polish, or protectant. Avoid storing near electric motors, as ozone can damage paint.
• Limited Warranty: Salsa Cycles offers a three-year warranty against manufacturing defects for all bicycle forks, parts, and components on 2014 and newer models. The warranty covers repair or replacement of defective products and is limited to the original purchaser. It does not cover damage from improper assembly, lack of maintenance, modifications, misuse, accidents, normal wear and tear, or paint damage. Warranty registration is encouraged at salsacycles.com.
