In Idle mode, open the application list and select

Use the keys that correspond to the calculator display

to perform basic mathematical operations.
Rotate the device counter-clockwise to landscape
view to use the scientic calculator. If you have
deactivated the auto orientation switch, press
[ ]

to close the calculator keypad.
The calculation history appears.
To clear the history, press [
