Using the Built-in Flash
If you wish to discharge the fl ash in a dark or backlit location, press the fl ash button
( ) to pop up the fl ash. Select a [Flash] mode to suit your purpose from the Flash
options screen in the Fn menu. You can adjust the fl ash output with the rear dial
(
) in any Exposure mode other than Auto mode. The built-in fl ash is optimum
from about 0.7 m to 4 m from the subject. Exposure will not be properly controlled
and vignetting may occur when used at a distance closer than 0.7 m. This distance
varies slightly depending on the lens being used and set sensitivity).
Compatibility of built-in fl ash and lens
Vignetting (darkening of the corners of the image due to a lack of light) may occur
depending on the lens being used and the capture conditions. We recommend taking
a test shot to confi rm this.
● When using the built-in fl ash, remove the lens hood before shooting.
● The built-in fl ash fully discharges for lenses without a function to set
aperture lens ring to A (Auto).
Auto Discharges the fl ash automatically in dark or backlit locations.
Fill-In
The built-in fl ash discharges manually. When the pop-up
fl ash is closed, the fl ash doesn’t discharge. When the fl ash is
opened, the fl ash will discharge.

Lights a red-eye reduction light before automatic fl ash.
Fill-In +

The built-in fl ash discharges manually. Lights a red-eye
reduction light before manual fl ash.

Sets the shutter speed to capture the background clearly.

Discharges fl ash immediately before closing the shutter curtain.
Wireless Mode
Controls external fl ash(SEF-54PZF or SEF-36PZF) through
wireless connection and fi res the built-in fl ash as master. (or the
controller.)
Selecting Flash Mode
1. Press the Fn button.
- The Fn menu appears.
2. Press the direction button (▼) on your
camera.
- The fl ash options screen appears.
3. Press the direction buttons (◄►) to select
[FLASH] mode.
- Pressing the green button ( ) resets the
exposure value if you have made the
exposure compensation to the fl ash.
4. Press the OK button twice.
- The camera returns to a capture mode.
