Overview

This document describes the Samsung HW-Q910B Soundbar, a home audio device designed to enhance your entertainment experience with immersive sound. It includes details on its various functions, how to set it up, connect it to other devices, and maintain it.

The Soundbar's primary function is to deliver high-quality audio, offering various sound modes such as Surround, Game, Standard, and Adaptive Sound to suit different content types. It supports advanced audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, providing a three-dimensional sound experience. The device is designed for continuous use and can be integrated into a home theater system with additional components like a wireless subwoofer and wireless surround speakers.

Setup and Installation:

Before installation, ensure the AC power supply in your home complies with the product's power requirements. The Soundbar should be installed horizontally on a suitable base or furniture, allowing 3-4 inches of space for ventilation. Avoid placing it on amplifiers or other heat-generating equipment. For wall mounting, verify that the wall is strong enough to support the product's weight and use appropriate fixing screws or anchors. It is recommended to connect all cables to external devices before mounting the Soundbar. Always ensure the unit is turned off and unplugged to prevent electric shock during installation.

Connecting the Soundbar:

The Soundbar can be connected to your TV and other devices using various methods:

  • HDMI Cable: Connects to the HDMI output of an external device or to the HDMI TO TV (eARC/ARC) jack on your TV. This allows for simultaneous digital video and audio signal transmission. For optimal performance, a High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet is recommended.
  • Optical Cable (D.IN): Connects to the digital (optical) output of an external device. If the terminals have covers, remember to remove them before connecting.
  • Wireless Subwoofer and Surround Speakers: The Soundbar can be paired with a wireless subwoofer (PS-W895B) and a Wireless Surround Speaker SET (SWA-9100) for an enhanced surround sound experience. To connect these, first power off the Soundbar. Then, press and hold the ID SET button on the rear of the subwoofer and surround speakers for at least 5 seconds. Next, use the Soundbar's remote control to configure "ID SET" by pressing the Up button for 5 seconds. The LINK LED indicator on the Wireless Receiver Module will blink blue during pairing and turn solid blue once the connection is complete.

Wireless Connections:

  • Bluetooth: The Soundbar supports Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to stream audio from mobile devices or Samsung TVs. There are two Bluetooth modes: "BT READY" for reconnecting previously paired devices and "BT PAIRING" for connecting new devices. To enter "BT PAIRING" mode, press the PAIR button on the remote or press and hold the (Mic On/Off) button on the Soundbar for more than 5 seconds. If a PIN code is requested, enter "0000".
  • Wi-Fi (Wireless Network): For Wi-Fi connectivity, the SmartThings app is required. Connect your mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV, then install and launch the SmartThings app. Follow the in-app instructions to connect the Soundbar to your Wi-Fi network.

Q-Symphony Function:

This feature allows the Soundbar to sync with a compatible Samsung TV to output sound through both devices simultaneously, creating an optimal surround effect. When connected, the TV's Sound Output menu will display "TV+Soundbar". This function works with HDMI, Optical, or Wi-Fi connections and is dependent on the TV's codec support. Ensure both the TV and Soundbar are connected to the same wireless router/frequency.

Spacefit Sound:

The Soundbar offers Spacefit sound, which optimizes sound quality by analyzing the listening space, providing a tailored audio experience.

Remote Control Functions:

The remote control provides comprehensive control over the Soundbar:

  • Power: Turns the Soundbar on or off.
  • (Source): Selects the input source (e.g., HDMI, D.IN, Bluetooth).
  • Bluetooth PAIR: Initiates Bluetooth pairing mode.
  • Up/Down/Left/Right: Navigates menus and adjusts settings.
  • (Play/Pause): Controls media playback.
  • (Mute): Mutes or unmutes the sound.
  • SOUND MODE: Selects desired audio modes (Surround, Game, Standard, Adaptive Sound).
  • (Info): Displays information about the active function or codec, and connected Bluetooth devices.
  • VOLUME: Adjusts the overall volume.
  • WOOFER (BASS) LEVEL: Adjusts the subwoofer's bass level.
  • CH LEVEL: Adjusts the volume of individual speakers (Center, Side, Wide, Front Top, Rear, Rear Top).
  • (Sound Control): Accesses audio functions like Spacefit sound, AVA, Voice enhance mode, Night mode, Sync, and Surround speaker mode.
  • TONE CONTROL: Adjusts treble or bass sound.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

If the Soundbar does not function properly, refer to the troubleshooting section:

  • Soundbar does not turn on: Check if the power cord is correctly inserted into the outlet.
  • Soundbar works erratically: Remove and reinsert the power cord, then try initializing the product. If there's no signal, the Soundbar may automatically turn off after a period of inactivity.
  • Remote control does not work: Point the remote directly at the Soundbar and replace the batteries.
  • Sound is not output from the Soundbar: Adjust the volume, check the volume of any connected external devices, and ensure "Soundbar" is selected as the sound output on your TV. Reconnect the cable from the Soundbar.
  • Sound is not output from the subwoofer or rear speakers: Check if the blue LED on the rear of these components is lit. Reconnect them if the LED blinks blue or is red.
  • TV not connected via HDMI TO TV (eARC/ARC): Verify the HDMI cable is correctly connected to the ARC terminal. Directly connect the Soundbar if issues persist with external devices. Ensure HDMI-CEC is activated on your TV.
  • Soundbar will not connect via Bluetooth: For new devices, switch to "BT PAIRING" mode. Remove the Soundbar from the device's Bluetooth speaker list and reconnect.
  • Sound drops out when connected via Bluetooth: Avoid placing devices that cause radio interference (e.g., microwaves, wireless routers) too close to the Soundbar. Move the Bluetooth device closer to the Soundbar and ensure no part of your body is in contact with the Bluetooth transceiver or that the product is not installed on metal furniture.
  • Soundbar will not connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure the wireless router is turned on and reconnect it after rebooting. Move the router closer to the Soundbar if the wireless signal is weak.
  • Soundbar does not turn on automatically with the TV: If the Soundbar was turned off while watching TV, power synchronization with the TV is disabled. Turn off the TV first.
