Overview

This document serves as a user manual for Samsung Smart Signage models QH43R, QH49R, QH50R, QH55R, QH65R, and QH75R. It provides comprehensive information regarding the product's functionality, installation, and maintenance.

The Smart Signage is designed to display various content, making it suitable for a range of commercial and informational applications. Its operation is primarily controlled via a remote control, which interacts with a sensor located on the front of the product. The remote control has an effective range of 2.5 to 4 meters and operates within a 30-degree angle from the left and right of the sensor. For enhanced IR receiver performance, an external IR cable can be connected to the IR IN port. The device also features a power button on the bottom, which can be used to turn the product on or off and to navigate the control menu. When the product is on, pressing the power button displays the control menu, allowing users to select input sources or power off the device. To exit the control menu, simply wait for 3 seconds without pressing any buttons.

The Smart Signage offers multiple connectivity options to accommodate diverse usage scenarios. It includes two USB ports: USB1 (1.0A) and USB2 (0.5A), for connecting USB memory devices. It's important to note that exceeding the maximum constant current for these ports may cause them to malfunction. For network connectivity and control, an RJ45 port is available, allowing connection to MDC (Multi Display Control) using a LAN cable (10/100 Mbps). A Cat7 (Shielded Twist Pair) cable is recommended for this connection. The RS232C IN port facilitates MDC control using an RS232C adapter, while the RS232C OUT port allows for connecting multiple products using a serial cable, which is not provided and must be purchased separately.

Video input options include DVI/MAGICINFO IN, which supports DVI cables for source devices or DP-DVI cables for Magicinfo network box connections. There are two HDMI IN ports: HDMI IN 1 (ARC) for connecting a source device with an HDMI or HDMI-DVI cable, and HDMI IN 2 (DAISY CHAIN IN) which also connects to a source device and allows for daisy-chaining to another product using an HDMI cable. A DP IN (DAISY CHAIN IN) port is available for connecting to a PC using a DisplayPort cable. For output, an HDMI OUT (DAISY CHAIN OUT) port allows connection to another product using an HDMI cable. Audio input is handled by the DVI/HDMI AUDIO IN port, receiving sound from a source device via an audio cable, and an AUDIO OUT port provides sound output to an external audio device.

Installation of the Smart Signage requires careful attention to ensure proper ventilation and stability. For installation on a perpendicular wall, a minimum space of 40 mm between the product and the wall surface is required for ventilation, and the ambient temperature should be kept below 35 °C. For installation on an indented wall, specific minimum clearances are necessary: 40 mm (A), 70 mm (B), 50 mm (C), and 50 mm (D), with an ambient temperature below 35 °C (E). These ventilation guidelines are crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the device.

The product can be tilted at a maximum angle of 15° from a perpendicular wall surface. For Portrait mode usage, the product should be rotated clockwise until the power indicator is positioned as shown in the manual's illustrations. It is explicitly stated that this model should not be installed on a ceiling, floor, or table.

For wall mounting, a separate wall mount kit is required. The manual emphasizes the importance of using the provided Wall Mount Adapter (1) during installation. It is recommended to contact a technician for assistance with wall mount bracket installation, as Samsung is not responsible for any damage or injury resulting from self-installation. The wall mount kit should be installed on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor. Installing on a slanted wall may cause the product to fall, leading to severe personal injury. The manual provides VESA screw hole specifications for different models, including screw dimensions (A * B in millimeters), standard screw type (M8), and quantity (4). It warns against using screws longer than the standard length or those that do not comply with VESA specifications, as this could damage the product. Over-tightening screws can also cause damage or lead to the product falling. It is crucial not to install the Wall Mount Kit while the product is turned on to avoid electric shock.

The Smart Signage supports Plug-and-Play systems, allowing for automatic optimization of monitor settings through two-way data exchange between the monitor and PC. Users can customize installation settings if desired. The manual also notes that due to the manufacturing process, approximately 1 pixel per million (1ppm) may appear brighter or darker on the panel, which does not affect product performance. To achieve optimum picture quality, it is recommended to set the product to only one resolution for each screen size, as using other resolutions may degrade picture quality.

The device is manufactured under license from Dolby Laboratories, incorporating Dolby Audio™ technology. It also features HDMI™ (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) technology, with the HDMI Logo being a trademark of HDMI Licensing LLC. The product includes HEVCAdvance™ technology, sold with a limited license for personal use, not for sale, and for content created by the owner of the product. It cannot be used with HEVC encoded content created by a third party unless specific rights are granted.
