Why is my Scag Power Equipment SFC30-7CV Lawn Mower leaving strips of uncut grass?
    • G
      gcochranAug 6, 2025
Streaking, or strips of uncut grass in the cutting path, can occur for several reasons. Ensure the blades are sharp, and if they are worn, sharpen them. Also, make sure the engine is running at full RPM. Check the belt tension and adjust if the belt is slipping. Clear any grass accumulation from the underside of the deck. Slow down your ground speed to suit the conditions, and only cut when the grass is dry. If the blades are bent, replace them.

If your Scag Power Equipment Lawn Mower is scalping—hitting dirt or cutting very close to the ground—several factors could be at play. Reduce your ground speed to better suit the conditions, and raise the cutting height. Changing the direction of your cut, as well as adjusting the pitch and level, may also help. Avoid cutting when the grass is wet, and ensure the grass is dry before mowing.

      Rebecca MillerAug 15, 2025
Occasional blades of uncut grass (stringers) can result from several issues. First, ensure the engine is running at full RPM. Adjust your ground speed to be slower, depending on the conditions. Avoid cutting wet grass; wait until it has dried out. Sharpen the blades if they are dull or incorrectly sharpened. Clean any accumulated grass from the underside of the deck. Finally, adjust the belt tension if the belts are slipping.
