Overview

This manual describes the Scheppach BC-AG125-X Cordless Angle Grinder, a versatile power tool designed for various metalworking tasks.

Function Description:

The BC-AG125-X is a battery-operated angle grinder primarily intended for dry cutting and rough grinding of metal, concrete, or tiles. It is not suitable for wet grinding, sandpaper grinding, wire brushing, or polishing. The tool features an on/off switch (1), a speed preselection button (2) for adjusting the rotational speed, and a start/stop switch (6). An additional handle (3) can be mounted in three different positions (left, right, or top) for enhanced control and safety. The protective cover (4) is adjustable to ensure maximum safety, exposing only the smallest necessary part of the grinding wheel. A separate protective cover (16) is provided specifically for cutting operations with bonded abrasives. The spindle locking button (5) allows for easy and safe changing of grinding or cutting wheels when the spindle is stationary. The tool is powered by a 20V Lithium-ion battery (18), which is inserted into the battery mount (19) and secured with a release button (17).

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Motor Voltage: 20 V
  • Speeds (n0): 3000 – 10000 min-1 (adjustable via speed preselection button)
  • Cutting Wheel Dimension: Ø 125 mm
  • Thread Dimension: M14
  • Weight (without battery): 1.60 kg
  • Sound Pressure Level (LpA): 83 dB (Measurement uncertainty K: 3 dB)
  • Sound Power Level (LwA): 94 dB (Measurement uncertainty K: 3 dB)
  • Main Handle Vibration (ah): 2.698 m/s² (Measurement uncertainty K: 1.5 m/s²)
  • Additional Handle Vibration (ah): 3.284 m/s² (Measurement uncertainty K: 1.5 m/s²)

The product complies with applicable European directives (2014/30/EU, 2006/42/EC, 2011/65/EU) and relevant standards (EN 62841-1:2015/A11:2022; EN IEC 62841-2-3:2021/A11:2021; EN IEC 55014-1:2021; EN IEC 55014-2:2021).

Usage Features:

Before commissioning, users must read and observe the operating manual and safety instructions. The angle grinder should always be switched on before making contact with the material and then guided onto the workpiece.

  • Battery Insertion/Removal: The 20V Lithium-ion battery (18) is inserted into the battery mount (19) until it audibly clicks into place. To remove, press the release button (17) and pull the battery out.
  • Additional Handle Assembly: The additional handle (3) can be screwed into the left, right, or top thread (15) on the product head. It should be tightened clockwise for assembly and unscrewed anticlockwise for removal. The tool should only be used with the additional handle fitted.
  • Protective Cover Adjustment: The protective cover (4) is crucial for safety and must be securely attached and adjusted to expose the smallest possible part of the grinding wheel towards the operator. For cutting operations with bonded abrasives, the dedicated protective cover (16) must be used. This cover slides onto the main protective cover (4) until it engages.
  • Grinding/Cutting Wheel Mounting: Always wear protective gloves when changing wheels. The dimensions of the wheel must be observed, and the hole diameter must fit the receptacle flange (8) without play. No reduction pieces or adapters should be used. The spindle locking button (5) should only be pressed when the receptacle spindle (9) is stationary. For thin grinding discs, the clamping nut (7) should be placed with its collar facing upwards to ensure secure clamping. For thick grinding discs, the collar should face downwards. After changing a disc, it is recommended to let the product run at maximum speed for 60 seconds to check for unusual noises or sparks and ensure all fastening parts are correctly attached. The rotation direction arrow on the wheel (if present) must match the rotation direction arrow on the product head.
  • Speed Adjustment: The rotational speed can be adjusted during operation using the speed preselection button (2). Levels from 1 (lowest speed, e.g., for surface grinding/polishing) to 6 (highest speed, e.g., for cut-off grinding) can be selected. The selected speed level is displayed under the button.
  • Working Instructions: Always guide the product against the workpiece when switched on. For rough grinding, move the angle grinder back and forth with moderate pressure. For soft materials, use a flat angle; for hard materials, a steeper angle. For cutting, work with moderate feed and do not tilt the cutting wheel. Avoid blocking the cutting wheel or applying excessive pressure. Always hold the product firmly with both hands and maintain a secure footing.

Maintenance Features:

The Scheppach BC-AG125-X is designed to be maintenance-free. However, regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and safety.

  • Cleaning: Keep protective devices, air vents, and the motor housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Wipe the product with a clean cloth or blow it off with low-pressure compressed air after each use. Ventilation openings must always be clear. Do not use cleaning products or solvents, as these can damage the plastic parts. Ensure no water enters the product's interior.
  • Storage: Before storing, remove the battery, clean the product, and check for damage. Store the product and its accessories in a dark, dry, frost-free place inaccessible to children. The optimal storage temperature is between 5°C and 30°C. Store the product in its original packaging, covered to protect it from dust or moisture. The operating manual should be stored with the product.

For repairs and spare parts, it is recommended to contact a qualified specialist workshop and use only original spare parts. Worn parts, such as batteries and certain model-dependent components, are generally excluded from warranty. The manufacturer offers an extended warranty of 10 years for products in the 20V IXES series, provided the product is registered online within 30 days of purchase.
