Maintain a solid footing and wear sturdy, nonslip foot-
wear and long trousers. Always scarify along the in-
cline (not up and down).
For safety reasons, the scarier may not be used to
scarify inclines whose gradient exceeds 15 degrees.
Use special caution when backing up and pulling the
scarier (tripping hazard)!
Scarifying
When scarifying, the grass surface and the grass
seam are scratched using the scarifying blade. This
removes moss, mulch and weeds, and cuts the ne
roots on the top. Therefore, air, light, water ant nu-
trients reach the grass root better, resulting in the
grass growing better and thicker. Furthermore, cut-
ting the ne roots encourages grass growth. This
promotes grass durability.
Scarifying should be performed a maximum of twice
per year.
Ideally in April/May and/or September/October.
Fertilise and water the grass surface after scarifying
in order to obtain an even better result.
Aerating
When aerating, the aerator roller removes surface
mulch and moss, and “dethatches” the grass. There-
fore, air, light, water ant nutrients reach the grass
root better, resulting in the grass growing better and
thicker. Aerating is gentler on the grass than scari-
fying but not as effective. The grass may be aerated
several times per year (around every 4 weeks).
Tips for proper working
It is recommended that you overlap scarifying paths
a little. Try to scarify in straight lines for a nice, clean
look. In so doing, the aeration swaths should always
overlap each other by a few centimetres in order to
avoid bare strips. First scarify lengthways and then
widthways in order to obtain a chessboard pattern.
As soon as grass clippings start to trail the scarier, it
is time to empty the grass basket.
Important! Before taking off the grass basket, switch
off the motor and wait until the roller has come to a
stop.
Re-sow sections without grass or with little grass af-
ter scarifying.
To remove the grass basket, lift up the ejector ap
with one hand, while unhooking the basket with the
other. How frequently you should scarify your lawn
is determined primarily by the speed at which the
grass grows and the hardness of the soil. Keep the
underside of the equipment clean and remove soil
and grass build-up. Deposits make it more dif cult
to start the aerator and decrease the quality of the
scarifying. Always scarify along inclines (not up and
down). Switch off the motor before doing any checks
on the roller.
Important!
The roller rotates for a few seconds after the motor
is switched off . Never attempt to stop the roller. In
the event that the rotating roller strikes an object, im-
mediately switch off the equipment and wait for the
roller to come to a complete stop. Then inspect the
condition of the roller. Replace any parts that are
damaged.
9. Maintenance and cleaning
Danger!
Always pull out the mains power plug before starting
any cleaning work.
Cleaning
Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor
housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible.
Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it
with compressed air at low pressure.
We recommend that you clean the device immedi-
ately each time you have nished using it.
Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth
and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents
or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of
the equipment.
In order to reduce the risk of re, keep the engine,
exhaust, battery box and the area surrounding the
fuel tank free of grass, straw, moss, leaves or es-
caping grease.
Maintenance
A worn out or damaged cutting unit should be re-
placed by an authorised expert.
Take care that all fastening elements (screws,
nuts, etc.) are rmly tightened, so that you can
work safely with the scarier.
Store the scarier in a dry place.
For longer life, all screw-fastened parts, such as
wheels and axles should be cleaned and subse-
quently oiled.
Regular servicing of the scarier not only secures
longer endurance and performance, but also con-
tributes to an accurate and simple scarication of
your lawn.
At the end of the season, carry out a general check
of the scarier, and remove all residue collected.
Before the start of every season, it is absolutely
necessary to check the state of the scarier. Con-
tact our Customer Service if repair work is nec-
essary.
Check the catcher regularly for wear or damaged
parts.
Check the machine regularly and replace worn out
or damaged parts for safety reasons.
If the fuel tank has to be drained, you must do this
outdoors. Store the drained fuel in a special con-
tainer for fuel or dispose of it with due care.
