How to troubleshoot a Schumacher BATTERY EXTENDER BE01251 that won't turn on?
    • Z
      zrileyAug 7, 2025
If the Schumacher Battery Charger won't turn on when connected, check the AC outlet for an open fuse or circuit breaker. Also, inspect the power cord and any extension cords for loose connections. If the issue persists, the battery itself may be defective and should be checked.

Why is the bad battery LED flashing on my Schumacher Battery Charger?
    • B
      bsmithAug 14, 2025
If the BAD BATTERY LED is lit on your Schumacher Battery Charger and the % CHARGE/BOOST LEDs are flashing, it could be due to the battery voltage remaining below 10V after 2 hours of charging or the output current exceeding 1.5A for 12 hours in maintain mode. First, make sure there are no loads on the battery. If the issue persists, have the battery checked or replaced. To reset the charger, unplug it from the AC outlet, wait a moment, and then plug it back in.

What does it mean when the bad battery LED is lit on a Schumacher BATTERY EXTENDER BE01251?
    • J
      Joy HodgeAug 22, 2025
If the BAD BATTERY LED is lit on your Schumacher Battery Charger, it could indicate several issues. The battery might be sulfated, in which case you should continue charging for several hours. It could also mean lack of progress is detected and the battery voltage is below 14.2V, or the battery’s initial voltage is below 12.2V and the total input is less than 1.5 Ah. Also, the battery voltage may drop to below 12.2V in Maintain Mode, in which case you should allow the battery to cool. The battery may also be too large, have a short circuit, have too low capacity, or be too old, or it won’t hold a charge due to a drain or being bad. In any of these cases, make sure there are no loads on the battery. If there are remove them. If there are none, have the battery checked or replaced.

What to do if the Schumacher BATTERY EXTENDER BE01251 has a short start cycle?
    • A
      ambercastilloAug 29, 2025
If you experience a short or no start cycle when cranking the engine with the Schumacher Battery Charger, consider the following: * Crank time varies with the amount of current drawn. * Allow the battery and charger to cool down by waiting 3 minutes between cranks. * Ensure clamps make a good connection at the battery and frame. * Check the AC and extension cords for loose plugs. * Verify power at the receptacle by checking the fuse or circuit breaker. * The charger may be overheated and the thermal protector may need more time to close. * If the battery is severely discharged, use the 20A Boost setting for a few minutes to assist cranking.
