What to do if my Schumacher PSC-12500A Proseries Battery Charger has a short or no start cycle when cranking the engine?
    • R
      Ryan HarrisonAug 19, 2025
If you experience a short or no start cycle when cranking the engine with your Schumacher Battery Charger, this could be due to several reasons. You might be drawing more amps than the charger can provide, in which case crank time varies with the amount of current drawn. Ensure you wait 3 minutes between cranks. Check for poor connections at the battery and frame, and ensure the AC cord and/or extension cord is not loose. Also, verify there is power at the receptacle by checking for an open fuse or circuit breaker. The charger may be overheated, requiring the thermal protector to reset. If the battery is severely discharged, charge for 10 to 15 minutes in the highest charge rate to help assist in cranking.

How to fix a Schumacher PSC-12500A Proseries that will not turn on?
    • A
      abishopAug 21, 2025
If your Schumacher Battery Charger will not turn on when properly connected, check the AC outlet for an open fuse or circuit breaker. Also, check the power cord and extension cord for a loose fitting plug, as a poor electrical connection can prevent the charger from turning on.

      Amy MckeeAug 23, 2025
If the battery is connected and your Schumacher Battery Charger is on but not charging, check for a poor connection at the battery and frame. Also, ensure the charger is not in tester mode; press the Charge Rate button to activate charging and select a charge rate.

How to activate charging on Schumacher Battery Charger?
    • N
      Nathan CastilloAug 26, 2025
If your Schumacher Battery Charger is connected to a battery and turned on but not charging, it might be in tester mode instead of charger mode. To resolve this, press the CHARGE start button to activate charging and select a charge rate.

Why does the charged green LED light up quickly on my Schumacher PSC-12500A Proseries Battery Charger?
    • R
      Robert MillerAug 28, 2025
If the CHARGED (green) LED lights a few minutes after connecting to the battery, it could be that the battery is fully charged or recently charged, leaving the battery voltage high enough to appear fully charged. If the battery is in a vehicle, turn the headlights on for a few minutes to reduce the battery voltage and try charging again. Also, the incorrect BATTERY TYPE may have been selected, so reset the Schumacher Battery Charger by briefly unplugging it or briefly disconnecting the negative battery clip.

Why does the digital display flash on my Schumacher Battery Charger?
    • D
      Denise MartinezAug 30, 2025
If the DIGITAL DISPLAY on your Schumacher Battery Charger always flashes before the battery is completely charged, the incorrect BATTERY TYPE may have been selected. Reset the charger by briefly unplugging it or briefly disconnecting the negative battery clip. It could also be that the battery did not reach full charge within 24 hours, possibly because it is a very large battery or bank of batteries requiring more power than the charger can deliver within 24 hours. Finally, the battery may be defective, so have it checked.

Why does Schumacher Battery Charger DIGITAL DISPLAY always flashes?
    • L
      Lisa SmithSep 2, 2025
If the digital display on your Schumacher Battery Charger flashes before the battery is fully charged, it could be due to several reasons. The incorrect battery type might have been selected, or the battery didn't reach full charge within 24 hours, possibly because it's too large or faulty. To fix this, reset the charger by briefly unplugging it or disconnecting the negative battery clip. Then, select the desired charge rate (small or regular battery) and battery type again, if necessary.

Why is my Schumacher Battery Charger making a clicking sound?
    • D
      David ChristensenSep 4, 2025
If your Schumacher Battery Charger is making an audible clicking sound, it could be due to several reasons. The circuit breaker might be cycling, indicating the settings may be wrong, so check the charger settings. The battery might be defective, so have it checked. There might be shorted battery cables or clips, which should be checked and replaced if necessary. If the battery is severely discharged but otherwise good, allow charging to continue until it recovers sufficiently to take a charge. Finally, reverse connections at the battery can cause this, so shut off the charger and correct the lead connections.

What does it mean when the lights on my Schumacher Battery Charger are erratic?
    • A
      Angela TorresSep 6, 2025
If the indicator lights on your Schumacher Battery Charger are lit in an erratic manner not explained in the manual, you might have accidentally activated a special diagnostic mode. Make sure nothing is touching the control panel, then unplug the charger and plug it in again.

Why is my Schumacher PSC-12500A Proseries Battery Charger buzzing or humming loudly?
    • J
      Jeremy RobertsonSep 8, 2025
A loud buzz or hum from your Schumacher Battery Charger can indicate a couple of things. A buzzing sound often means the transformer laminations vibrate, which is normal. A humming sound may indicate a shorted Diode Assembly or Output Rectifier Assembly, in which case you should have the charger checked by a qualified technician.
