To ensure accuracy, the locking screw should be loosened, and the caliper closed. If the display does not show zero, the zero control button should be pressed to reset it. Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and accuracy of the AK9623EV. The caliper should always be kept in good and clean condition for optimal performance. Submerging the caliper in any liquid is strictly prohibited. Exposure to bright sunlight or dust should also be avoided.
The caliper is a precision instrument and should be handled with care, avoiding force, knocks, or shocks. It should be used in reasonably constant temperature conditions, ideally around 20°C. When not in use, the caliper should be turned off and stored in a safe, dry, childproof location, preferably in its supplied carry-case.
Battery replacement is indicated by a flashing display. To replace the LR44 - 1.5V battery, the battery cover (9) is slid to the right. The exhausted battery is removed, and a new one is fitted with the positive side uppermost. The battery cover is then refitted. Old batteries must be disposed of safely and responsibly, not incinerated, as they may explode. If the display fails to change when the slide is moved, removing the battery for at least 30 seconds and then refitting it can often resolve the issue. Disassembly of the caliper is not recommended and should only be performed by qualified service personnel. Applying any voltage to the caliper, such as with an electric marker pen, is strictly prohibited. Adhering to these safety and maintenance guidelines will ensure the caliper remains accurate and functional for many years.
