Why does my Sears CRAFTSMAN 390.251882 Water Pump cycle too frequently?
    • A
      Amanda JohnsonAug 16, 2025
Frequent cycling of your Sears Water Pump can occur for several reasons: * If you have a standard pressure tank, it may be water-logged and has no air cushion. Drain the tank to the air volume control tapping to resolve this. * Check the connections. * Make sure that all faucets or valves are closed. * The foot valve may need replacement. * The pressure switch may need adjustment or replacement. * If you have a Captive Air® Tank (Models 390.251482 and 390.251882), ensure it has the correct air charge (40 pounds). To check, disconnect electrical power, open faucets to relieve pressure, and use a tire pressure gauge at the valve stem on top of the tank. If low, add air until the proper pressure is reached. Check for leaks with a soapy solution and replace the core if needed.

Why Sears CRAFTSMAN 390.251882 Water Pump doesn't deliver water to full capacity?
    • B
      Brenda OwenAug 27, 2025
If your Sears Water Pump isn't delivering water to its full capacity: * A deep well jet pump may be needed if the water level is over 20 ft. * If steel piping is used, corrosion or lime buildup could be causing excess friction. Replace it with plastic pipe where possible, or with new steel pipe. * Try using larger offset piping.

What to do if my Sears Water Pump runs but no water is delivered?
    • D
      dbrownNov 11, 2025
If your Sears Water Pump runs but no water is delivered, there could be several reasons: * If it’s a new installation, the pump may not have picked up prime due to improper priming, air leaks, or a leaking foot valve. In this case, re-prime according to instructions, check all connections on the suction line, air volume control, and jet, and replace the foot valve if necessary. * If the pump has lost its prime, check for air leaks in the suction line, air volume control, and jet. Also, ensure the water level is not below the suction of the pump; lower the suction line into the water and re-prime. If the water level in a shallow well exceeds the suction lift, a deep well pump is needed. * Additionally, clean the jet or impeller, replace the check valve or foot valve, thaw any frozen ...
