2. The tronsoxle (transmission) gear shift lever
(A), is loca ted at front, center of seat.
a. The gear shift lever selects the FORWARD,
NEUTRAL and REVERSE gears.
3. To engage parking broke, pull pork broke lever
(B), to rear (lock) position. To release parking
broke, push leve r (B), forward.

4. The high-low range shift lever (C), is l ocated on
R.H. side of chassis, just forward of rear fender.
The high-low range lever has 3 positions, up for
high-range, center for neutral and down for low-
range. There ore 2 neutral positions in trons-
mi ssion, one on the gear shift lever (0 ), and
one on t he high-low range lever {C). Both levers
must be engaged for Tractor to operate: Place
both levers in neutral for pushing of Tractor or
when Tractor is be i ng towed . Refer to " Towing
T roctor ", page 7.

1. Roi se hood.
2. Engine crankcase is shipped with oil ready for
use. However, check oil level before starting.
If necessary, odd oil to bring oil level up to ful l
mark on the dipstick. Dipst i ck must be pushed
down tight for checking oil level, and tractor
should be level. NOTE: Do not fi II above full
mark on dipstick. Use Al lstat e S.A.E. 30 oil or
equivalent for summer use. For winter use, below
32°, use Allstate Multi-grade oil S.A.E. SW - 30,
1 OW or equivalent. Nothing shou ld be added to the
recommended oil . Make sure the oi l used is a
high quality detergent oil c lassifi ed "f or service
MS, SO, SC or SE. Because of recent changes in
the classifications, the oil container may show
one or a combination of these recommended class-
ifications. CAUTION: Do not overfill crankcase.
Do not use service OS oi I. Do not mix brands nor
grades of motor oi I.
3. F ill fuel tonk with a good grade of fresh, CLEAN,
regular gaso l ine. Wipe off oil spilled fuel and oil.
NOTE : Gas tonk is located under tractor seat . T i lt
seat forward, so fue l can be added to gas tonk.
