Weighing with mother / child
function (seca 781)

The mother / child function was developed
to weigh both an adult and a child in
the arms of the adult to an accuracy
of within 50g.
Where two scales used to be
needed, the seca 781 is now
all you require.
Cleaning
Clean the outside of the scale as required
using a domestic cleaning agent or a
commercially available disinfectant. Follow
the manufacturer’s instructions.
What do I do if ...
…the scales flash because they have
been loaded for over 1.5 min?
● Briefly take the load off the scales until
they display

…the display flashes because the scales
have been exposed to severe changes
in temperature?
● Put the scales somewhere else or
allow them to adjust to the new
temperature.
…
appears in the display?
● Batteries will soon be running out,
change batteries.
…
appears in the display?
● Change batteries
…a number, e.g. 12, appears in the right-
hand side of the display?
● You have inadvertently pressed
several keys at once and put the
scale in “service mode”. Do not press
any more keys and turn off the scales
using the green Start key. You can
then start the scales quite normally
again.
…the display stays dark after being
switched on?
● You’ve almost certainly forgotten to
put batteries in.
…no weight display appears?
● Check whether the load lever is
correctly suspended from the
connecting rod.
…with the scales unladen,
or
appears in the display instead of exactly
?
● Re-set scales to zero: start again
using the green Start key – the display
will first show
and then
automatically jump to zero.
…
appears in the display after the
scales are started?
● Too great a load was placed on the
scales when starting them. Take load
off scales and re-start using the green
Start key.
…
appears in the display?
● The scales are being operated in the
incorrect temperature range. Ensure
that the scales are operated between
0 °C and 40 °C.
…
appears in the display?
• Maximum load has been exceeded.
Servicing
Your seca scale leaves the factory with an
accuracy better than ± 0,4/ 0,2 %. To
ensure that this degree of accuracy is
maintained, the product must be carefully
set up and regulary serviced. Depending
on frequency of use, we recommend
servicing at intervals of 3 to 5 years. Please
note that a qualified servicing agent should
be used for this. If you are in doubt, seca
