This document describes the Credor 7R11 watch, a sophisticated timepiece featuring a minute repeater mechanism and Spring Drive technology.
Function Description
The Credor 7R11 is a complication watch equipped with a minute repeater mechanism that audibly chimes the hour. This unique mechanism is powered by mainsprings and announces the current time using two distinct sounds: a low tone and a high tone. The number of low-tone gong strikes indicates the hour, while a sequence of low-tone and high-tone gong strikes represents 10-minute intervals after the last hour. The number of high-tone gong strikes then indicates the minutes. Unlike most minute repeaters that use quarter-hour sequences, this watch employs a decimal system for easier time comprehension. The crisp, clear sounds are produced by rod-shaped gongs made from specially hammered steel, a technique passed down through generations of the Myochin family of master blacksmiths from Himeji. The volume of the striking gongs is tuned to be comfortably audible in a quiet place without needing to raise the watch close to the ear. As a mechanically-actuated time announcing device, an error of approximately one minute may occur between the chimed time and the time indicated by the hands.
The watch also features "Spring Drive" technology, a unique mechanism developed by SEIKO. Spring Drive ensures quartz accuracy while using the mainspring as its sole power source, resulting in a perfectly smooth, glide-motion seconds hand.
Usage Features
Winding the Mainspring: The watch has a manually wound spring drive with two mainsprings that can be simultaneously wound. To wind, turn the crown at the normal position clockwise slowly. Continue winding until the power reserve indicator shows a fully wound state, and ensure the seconds hand is moving. Five full rotations of the crown provide approximately ten hours of power. The crown cannot be turned further once the mainspring is fully wound to prevent overwinding.
Power Reserve Indicator: This indicator shows the winding state of the mainspring. Before removing the watch, check the indicator to ensure sufficient power for continued operation. A fully wound state provides approximately 72 hours (3 days) of power, while half wound provides about 36 hours (1.5 days). Each use of the minute repeater consumes approximately 3 to 5 hours of power reserve. Under low-temperature conditions (below 0°C), the watch may stop if the power reserve is less than one-sixth of its capacity; in such cases, wind the mainspring.
Setting the Time: First, ensure the watch is operating and the mainspring is sufficiently wound. Pull out the crown when the seconds hand is at the 12 o'clock position, which stops the seconds hand. Turn the crown counterclockwise slowly to set the time, advancing the minute hand about ten minutes past the desired time, then slowly moving it back to the exact time. Push the crown back to the normal position in accordance with a time signal. For accurate time setting, wait approximately 30 seconds after the seconds hand starts moving before pulling out the crown. Avoid stopping the seconds hand for longer than 30 minutes; if it does, push the crown back in, wait 30 seconds for it to restart, then set the time.
Using the Minute Repeater: To activate the minute repeater, ensure the crown is in the normal position and the mainsprings are sufficiently wound (recommended to be fully wound). Then, press the button located at the 8 o'clock position. The minute repeater will audibly chime the current time indicated by the hour and minute hands.
Safety Device: The watch is equipped with a safety device to prevent damage from simultaneous operation of time setting and minute repeater functions. The minute repeater cannot be activated while the crown is pulled out for time adjustment. Similarly, while the minute repeater is chiming, the crown cannot be pulled out for time setting, and the mainsprings will slip if the crown is turned. If the minute repeater is activated when the power reserve is low, or if the crown is pulled out while the repeater is chiming, the watch may appear to malfunction. To release the safety device, press the flush head button (using a soft object like a wooden edge to avoid damage), wind the mainsprings to a fully wound state, then press the minute repeater button at 8 o'clock, and finally reset the time.
Water Resistance: This watch is not water-resistant. Water or water vapor should not enter the watch. Its non-water-resistant design is intentional to achieve the complete purity of the chime sound. Avoid using the watch in high humidity, during heavy sweating, or while wearing gloves. Store the watch in a dry place. Do not turn or pull out the crown when the watch is wet, as water may enter. Do not leave moisture, sweat, or dirt on the watch for extended periods; keep it clean by wiping with a soft cloth.
Magnetic Resistance: The watch is not magnetism resistant. It may temporarily gain or lose time or stop operating if affected by nearby magnetism. Keep the watch more than 10cm away from magnetic products such as smartphones, AC adapters, magnetic cooking devices, and magnetic health products. If the watch becomes magnetized and its accuracy deteriorates, demagnetization and accuracy readjustment may be required.
Shock: This watch incorporates a complicated mechanism with numerous individual parts. Exercise caution to avoid subjecting it to excessive shock or vibration.
Maintenance Features
Daily Care: The watch body and band are in direct contact with the skin, similar to underwear, and require regular cleaning to prevent stains, rashes, or itching. After removing the watch, wipe off perspiration or moisture with a soft cloth. Do not use chemical agents or cleaners. Turn the crown from time to time (several slow turns are sufficient) to prevent corrosion and extend the life of the gasket.
Metallic Band Care: Moisture, sweat, or soil can cause rust even on stainless steel bands. Wipe off moisture, sweat, or soil with a soft cloth as soon as possible. To clean soil around joint gaps, wipe with water and brush with a soft toothbrush, protecting the watch body from splashes. Wipe off remaining moisture with a soft cloth. If pins protrude or fall out due to rust, refrain from using the watch and seek repair.
Leather Band Care: Leather bands are susceptible to discoloration and deterioration from moisture, sweat, and direct sunlight. Blot moisture and sweat with a dry cloth as soon as possible. Avoid direct sunlight. Take care when wearing light-colored bands, as dirt is more visible. Avoid wearing leather bands (except Aqua Free bands) during swimming or water-related activities, even if the watch itself is water-resistant.
Length Adjustment Service: For 18-karat gold or platinum bracelets, contact the retailer for length adjustment. This service may take two to three weeks. The initial length adjustment for 18-karat gold, platinum, or stainless steel mesh bracelets is typically free, though material or repair costs may apply. Stainless steel band adjustments are available from the retailer.
Periodic Cleaning: Periodic cleaning is highly recommended to maintain the watch's quality. Contact the retailer or a Credor Service Studio for this service.
Inspection and Adjustment (Overhaul): Periodic inspection and adjustment by disassembly and cleaning (overhaul) are recommended approximately once every two years to maintain optimal performance. This watch's movement has over 660 components, and regular washing, oiling, accuracy adjustment, function checks, and replacement of consumable parts are crucial. The first overhaul after purchase is particularly important for long-term use. Contact the retailer for overhaul services, specifying "SEIKO GENUINE PARTS." Gaskets and push pins should also be replaced during overhaul.
Allergic Symptoms/Skin Irritation: If any allergic symptoms or skin irritation occur, stop wearing the watch immediately and consult a dermatologist or allergist.
Disposal: Follow local government directions when disposing of the watch body.
Children: Keep the watch and accessories out of the reach of babies and children to prevent accidental swallowing or injury.
