Overview

The Seko TDS (Timed Dosing System) is a metering system designed for timed operation, utilizing a peristaltic pump controlled by either a programmable analog or digital clock. This system is suitable for various applications requiring precise timed dosing, with a focus on ease of use due to its simplified programming process.

Function Description:

The TDS system's primary function is to accurately dispense liquids at predetermined intervals and durations. It achieves this through a peristaltic pump, which is activated and deactivated by a programmable clock. The system offers two main types of clock control: an analog clock (TDS DA series) and a digital clock (TDS DD series), including a battery-powered digital version (TDS DD-Battery). The timed dosing ensures consistent and controlled delivery of substances, making it ideal for applications where precise timing is critical.

  • Mounting: Mounting bracket, anchors, and screws.

Usage Features:

Installation:

  • Mounting: The system is mounted using a supplied bracket. It's crucial to select a suitable location, avoiding direct paths of steam to prevent damage. The cabinet front can be opened by unscrewing the right-side screws.
  • Plumbing:
    • Suction Line: The foot filter is assembled and inserted into the product container. A 1/4" OD PVC tube is connected to the foot filter via a coupling nut and connector. The foot filter must always reach the bottom of the tank and be periodically cleaned.
    • Delivery Line: A PVC tube is attached to the pump's delivery side and connected to either a duck check valve or an injection fitting.

TDS DA (Analog Clock) Operation:

  • Setting Dosing Time: The dosing time (2 to 18 minutes) is set using a potentiometer (Timer) on the circuit board. The daily clock must be powered on for this.
  • Setting Daily Clock: The current time is set on the instrument's rotation wheel. Tabs on the wheel are pressed inward to set "on" times, with each tab representing 15 minutes. The daily clock stops if power supply is not present.
  • Example: To set a 30-minute dosing time, the potentiometer is set to 15 minutes, and two jumpers are pressed.

TDS DD (Digital Clock) Operation:

  • Controls: Located inside the front cover.
    • I AUTO O Switch: Selects operating mode: continuous (I), automatic (AUTO), or system excluded (O).
    • RUN P Selector: Used for setting time on the timer, operating the timer (RUN), or programming the timer (P).
    • Numbers 1 to 7: Used for programming, indicating days of the week (1=Monday, 7=Sunday).
    • "P" Push-button: Confirms programming and moves to the next step.
    • "1...7" Push-buttons: Select programming blocks, indicated by symbols on the display. The sequence is cyclic (e.g., 1-7 for all days, 1-5 for weekdays).
    • "h" Push-button: Selects programming hours.
    • "m" Push-button: Selects programming minutes.
    • "→" Push-button: SKIP function.
    • "R" Push-button: Reset.
  • Programming Digital Timer:
    • Step 1 (Set Current Day and Time): Set the upper left slide switch to "AUTO" and the upper right slide switch to the clock face icon position. Use the 1...7 button to scroll to the current day and the "h" and "m" buttons to set the current time.
    • Step 2 (Set "Dosing Start" and "Dosing Stop" Times): Move the upper right slide switch to the "P" position. Use the 1...7 button to select the day(s) for dosing and the "h" and "m" buttons to set the "START DOSING" time, then press "P". The display will flash, showing "2" to indicate setting the "STOP DOSING" time. Repeat the process for "STOP DOSING" time. The TDS supports up to eight dosings per day. If no more dosing times are needed, move the upper right slide switch to "RUN".
    • Overlapping Cycles: The system allows overlapping operation intervals. For example, a weekly cycle from 9:00-12:00 a.m. and a daily cycle on Mondays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. will result in a cycle on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Cancelling Cycles: To cancel a single cycle, select the start time using the "P" button, then press "P" and "←" simultaneously until the display flashes 0.00. Repeat for the end time.
    • Skip Function: Activates programs for the next day to be avoided by pressing the "→" button (with the right-hand switch in "RUN" mode). The "→" symbol appears on the display. The SKIP order starts at 0.00 a.m. and ends at 12.00 p.m. the day following selection. It cannot be revoked once activated. The push-button pad will be inactive for the skipped day. Pressing "→" on the skipped day extends the SKIP command to the next day.

Maintenance Features:

  • TDS DD Battery Maintenance: When the low-battery LED lights up, approximately 50 hours of battery life remain. Batteries should be replaced promptly to avoid missed dosings.
  • TDS DA Analog Clock Maintenance: If the pump needs to dose for more than 15 minutes, the daily clock must be set to 30 minutes, and the trimmer adjusted. The daily clock should be checked weekly.
  • Replacing the Squeeze Tube:
    1. Ensure the left-hand switch on the clock is in the "O" position (for TDS DD).
    2. Remove the snap-on cover protecting the peristaltic pump.
    3. Position the thumbscrew holder vertically.
    4. Remove the left connector and pull the pipe towards the front panel, turning the thumbscrew holder clockwise to guide the pipe out until the right connector can also be removed.
    5. For re-assembly, move the thumbscrew holder horizontally.
    6. Push the left connector into place with the curved part towards the bottom.
    7. Press the pipe into its seat, progressively turning the thumbscrew holder clockwise until the right connector is also seated.
    8. Replace the protecting cover, starting with the upper edge and pressing it until it clicks shut.
    9. The left-hand switch can then be set to "I" or "AUTO" (for TDS DD).
