The Sena Cavalry Bluetooth Half Helmet is a sophisticated communication device integrated into a motorcycle helmet, designed to keep riders connected and entertained while on the road. It combines safety with advanced technology, offering a seamless and intuitive user experience.

Function Description

The primary function of the Sena Cavalry helmet is to provide a comprehensive communication solution for motorcyclists. It allows riders to blast their favorite tunes, engage in four-way intercom conversations with up to three other riders, and receive directions from their GPS. The helmet features built-in Bluetooth® capabilities, HD speakers, and a microphone with Advanced Noise Control™ technology, ensuring clear audio and minimal interference from wind noise, even at high speeds. The intercom system boasts a range of up to 900 meters, facilitating communication within a group of riders.

Usage Features

The helmet's operation is designed to be straightforward, utilizing a combination of taps and holds on its integrated buttons.

Basic Operations:

  • Powering On/Off: The helmet can be powered on or off by holding the center button and the (+) button for 1 second.
  • Volume Control: Volume can be adjusted by tapping the (+) button for volume up and the (-) button for volume down, each with a single tap.

Battery Level Check:

The battery level can be checked both visually and audibly when powering on the Bluetooth Module.

  • Visual Method: After holding the center button and (+) button for 1 second to power on, a series of red and blue LED lights will indicate the battery level (high, medium, or low).
  • Audible Method: Simultaneously, an audible prompt will announce "Battery level high/medium/low."

Bluetooth Pairing (Phone, MP3, GPS):

  • Mobile Phone Pairing: To pair a mobile phone, the user enters the configuration menu by holding the center button for 10 seconds. An audible prompt will say "Configuration menu." Then, navigate forward by tapping the (+) button once, and an audible prompt will say "Phone pairing." The LED status will show alternating blue and red flashing lights, indicating the device is discoverable. The PIN number is 0000.

Mobile Phone Controls:

  • Answer a Call: Tap the center button once.
  • End/Reject a Call: Hold the center button for 2 seconds.
  • Make Call with Voice Dialer: Hold the center button for 3 seconds to activate the voice dialer.

Music Controls:

  • Play/Pause Music: Hold the center button for 1 second. An audible "[Beep, Beep]" will confirm the action.
  • Next Track: Hold the (+) button for 1 second.
  • Previous Track: Hold the (-) button for 1 second.

Intercom Pairing and Communication:

The helmet supports intercom communication with up to three other Sena headsets.

  • Intercom Pairing: To pair with another intercom (e.g., Intercom B), hold the center button for 5 seconds. An audible prompt will say "Intercom pairing." Once paired, a flashing blue LED confirms the connection. This process can be repeated for additional intercom friends (C & D).
  • Start/End Each Intercom: Tap the center button once to start or end an intercom conversation with a specific friend.
  • End All Intercoms: Hold the center button for 1 second to end all active intercom conversations.
  • Start Group Intercom: To initiate a group intercom, tap the center button and the (-) button once. An audible prompt will say "Group intercom." The LED status will show alternating blue and red flashing lights, indicating the device is in Group Intercom mode.
  • End Group Intercom: Hold the center button for 1 second to terminate a group intercom. An audible prompt will say "Group intercom terminated."

Radio Features:

  • FM Radio On/Off: Hold the (-) button for 1 second to turn the FM radio on or off. An audible "[Beep, Beep]" will confirm.
  • Seek and Save Stations: To seek forward, hold the (+) button for 2 seconds. To seek backward, hold the (-) button for 2 seconds. To enter preset mode, hold the center button for 3 seconds. An audible "Preset (#)" will be heard.
  • Scan and Save Stations: To start scanning, hold the (+) button for 1 second. To save a station, tap the center button once. To choose a preset number, tap the (+) button once. To save to a preset number, hold the (+) button for 1 second. To delete a station, hold the (-) button for 1 second. To stop scanning, hold the (+) button for 1 second.
  • Navigating Preset Stations: Hold the center button for 1 second to navigate through preset stations.

Configuration Menu:

  • Accessing the Configuration Menu: Hold the center button for 10 seconds. An audible "Configuration menu" will be heard.
  • Navigating Between Menu Options: Tap the (+) button once to navigate forward and the (-) button once to navigate backward. An audible "[Menu prompt]" will guide the user.
  • Enable/Disable or Execute Menu Options: Tap the center button once to enable, disable, or execute a selected menu option.

Maintenance Features

The Sena Cavalry helmet is designed with user-friendly maintenance and upgrade options to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Firmware Updates:

  • Sena Device Manager: Users can update the Bluetooth Communication Module's firmware and configure its settings directly from a PC or Apple computer using the Sena Device Manager software. Smartphone App Integration:

  • Sena Smartphone App: The Sena Smartphone App allows users to configure the Bluetooth Communication Module's settings, as well as access the User's and Quick Start Guides directly from their smartphone. After pairing the mobile phone with the helmet, users can run the app to customize settings. The app is available for Android and Apple operating systems and can be downloaded from Sena.com/headset-app.

Troubleshooting:

  • Factory Reset: To perform a factory reset, access the configuration menu by holding the center button for 10 seconds. Navigate backward twice by tapping the (-) button twice. An audible "Factory reset" will be heard. Then, execute the reset by tapping the center button once.
  • Fault Reset: In case of a fault, a fault reset can be performed by holding the center button and the (+) button for 1 second. It's important to note that a fault reset will not restore the Bluetooth module to factory default settings.

Physical Maintenance:

  • Chinstrap: The chinstrap should be checked regularly for proper position and tension to ensure a secure fit. The manual provides clear instructions on how to thread the chinstrap through the D-Rings for secure fastening.
  • Ear Plates and Ear Pads: The helmet includes ear plates to amplify sound and ear pads to amplify sound and cut wind noise at high speeds. These can be slid into slots on both sides of the helmet, ensuring they are aligned with the ears. It is recommended to install the ear pads at all times to enhance the sound quality. The chinstrap should be slid through the band of the ear pad for proper installation.
