Overview

This document outlines the operation, features, and maintenance of the Sencor Induction Cooktop, models SCP 4202GY and SCP 4203WH. Designed for household use, this appliance offers an efficient and fast cooking experience by directly heating the metal bottom of cookware through electromagnetic waves, thereby minimizing thermal losses compared to traditional cooktops.

Function Description

The Sencor Induction Cooktop is a modern cooking appliance that utilizes the principle of induction heating. Unlike conventional electric or gas stoves that heat the cooking surface, an induction cooktop generates an electromagnetic field that directly heats the ferromagnetic cookware placed on its surface. This method ensures faster cooking times and reduced energy consumption. The cooktop features two independent hotplates: a large one with a diameter of 167 mm and a small one with a diameter of 145 mm, both of which can be operated simultaneously. Each hotplate has its own control panel and display, allowing for individual settings of power level, temperature, and automatic shut-off timer. The appliance is equipped with air inlets and exhaust vents to ensure proper air circulation and cooling during operation.

Usage Features

Before initial use, it is crucial to remove the appliance from its packaging, ensure the hotplate surface is clean and undamaged, and place it on an even, dry, and stable surface. Adequate free space (at least 10 cm around and 50 cm above) is required for proper air circulation. Once connected to a power socket, the cooktop will emit a sound and display "OFF," indicating it is in stand-by mode.

To begin cooking, place suitable cookware containing ingredients on the desired hotplate. Cookware must be made from a magnetizable conductive material such as cast iron, enameled steel, or stainless steel, with a flat and straight bottom. The bottom diameter should be at least 12 cm and not extend more than 2 cm beyond the marked cooking zone. Cookware made from aluminum, copper, ceramics, porcelain, or glass, or with bulging/curved bottoms, is not suitable.

Turning On a Hotplate:

Press the ON/OFF button on the respective control panel (A for the large hotplate, B for the small hotplate). The display will show "ON." Then, press the MENU button. The cooktop will automatically detect if suitable cookware is present. If so, it will start heating at a preset power level (1600 W for the large hotplate, 1300 W for the small hotplate), displaying "1600" or "1300," and the cooling fan will activate. If unsuitable cookware is detected, an "E0" error message will appear, accompanied by a sound, and the hotplate will eventually switch to stand-by mode. If cookware is removed during operation, "E0" will be displayed, and a sound will be made before the hotplate enters stand-by.

Setting the Power Level:

Upon activation, the power level is automatically set to 1600 W (large) or 1300 W (small). If the power level indicator is lit, use the control dial to adjust the power within the range of 200 to 1600 W (large) or 200 to 1300 W (small). If another indicator is lit, first press the MENU button to switch to the power level display mode, then use the control dial.

Setting the Temperature:

Press the MENU button repeatedly until the temperature display mode indicator is lit. The temperature is automatically set to 240 °C. Use the control dial to select a desired temperature between 60 °C and 240 °C.

Setting a Combination of Power Level and Automatic Shut-Off Timer:

Press the MENU button repeatedly until both the power level display mode and the automatic shut-off timer are shown, with "0:00" on the display. Use the control dial to set the shut-off time from 1 minute to 3 hours, adjusting in 1-minute increments. After 5 seconds, the display will revert to the power level display mode (preset to 1600 W/1300 W). The power level can be adjusted with the control dial. The display will alternate between the remaining time and the set power level. Once the set time elapses, a sound will be made, the hotplate will turn off, and "OFF" will be displayed.

Setting a Combination of Temperature and Automatic Shut-Off Timer:

Press the MENU button repeatedly until both the temperature display mode and the automatic shut-off timer are shown, with "0:00" on the display. Use the control dial to set the shut-off time from 1 minute to 3 hours, adjusting in 1-minute increments. After 5 seconds, the display will revert to the temperature display mode (preset to 240 °C). The temperature can be adjusted with the control dial. The display will alternate between the remaining time and the set temperature. Once the set time elapses, a sound will be made, the hotplate will turn off, and "OFF" will be displayed.

Turning Off a Hotplate:

After cooking, press the ON/OFF button for the respective hotplate. "OFF" will be displayed, and the hotplate will enter stand-by mode. If both hotplates are off, disconnect the cooktop from the power socket. For safety, the cooktop automatically turns off after two hours of continuous operation if no button is pressed or setting changed. If a timer is set, it will shut down after the set time. The cooling fan will continue to run briefly after the hotplate is turned off to expedite cooling; do not disconnect the cooktop until the fan stops.

Safety Instructions:

Children aged 8 and above, and individuals with physical, mental, or experience impairments, may use the appliance if properly supervised and informed about safe usage and potential dangers. Children younger than 8 years must be kept away from the appliance and its power cord. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged, cracked, dropped, or submerged in water. Repairs must only be carried out by an authorized service center. Tampering with the appliance voids the warranty. People with cardiac pacemakers should consult their physician before use. The appliance should not be used with external timers or remote controls. Avoid placing it near open flames, heat sources, or on metal surfaces. Ensure sufficient air circulation and do not cover air inlets/exhausts. Do not heat empty cookware or closed containers. Exercise caution when heating oils and fats. Keep credit cards, watches, and radios away from the magnetic field. Do not place metal objects like knives, forks, spoons, or lids on the hotplate as they may heat up. Always turn off and unplug the appliance when unsupervised or not in use, and before cleaning. The hotplates remain hot due to residual heat from cookware; allow them to cool completely before touching. Disconnect by pulling the plug, not the cord. Ensure the power cord does not hang over edges or touch hot surfaces. A damaged power cord must be replaced by an authorized service center.

Radio Wave Interference:

The induction cooktop may cause interference with radios, televisions, or similar receivers. This can be mitigated by redirecting the antenna, moving the cooktop further from the receiver, or connecting the cooktop to a separate electrical circuit.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the induction cooktop.

Cleaning:

Always disconnect the appliance from the power socket and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning. Wipe the glass ceramic plate and control panel with a lightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. For stubborn stains, use a cloth dipped in a neutral cleaning agent solution. After applying the agent, wipe the surface again with a lightly damp cloth and then dry. Keep the induction cooktop clean by regularly removing dust and dirt from the air inflow and exhaust vents. Cotton buds can be used for a more thorough clean in these areas. Do not use abrasive cleaning products, petrol, or solvents, as these can damage the appliance. To prevent electric shock, never submerge any part of the appliance in water or any other liquid.

Error Messages:

The cooktop provides error messages on the display to indicate specific issues:

  • E0: No cookware or unsuitable cookware detected. Solution: Place suitable cookware on the hotplate.
  • E1 or E2: Temperature sensor failure. Solution: Send to an authorized service center.
  • E3 or E4: Input voltage too high or too low. Solution: Connect to a 220-240 V power socket.
  • E5: Hotplate overheating. Solution: Allow the hotplate to cool down before restarting.
  • E6: Thermal fuse activated due to overheating. Solution: Allow the cooktop to cool, ensure air vents are not blocked. If the problem persists, send to an authorized service center.

Disposal:

Packaging materials should be disposed of at a public waste disposal site. The product itself, marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, should not be treated as household waste. It must be disposed of at an applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Alternatively, in some EU countries, it can be returned to the retailer when purchasing an equivalent new product. Proper disposal helps conserve natural resources and prevent negative environmental and health impacts. Businesses in the EU should consult their seller or supplier for disposal information. In other countries, consult local government departments or the seller. The product complies with basic EU regulation requirements.
