SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Please make sure the frequency and the voltage of the
mains supply equal those on the type plate before
using the unit.
Caution! Strong UV-C lamp! Unprotected contact of
eyes and skin with the UV-C light leads to severe eye
damage and skin burns (strong sunburn) within a short
time (20 – 30 seconds).
• Strong UV light is emitted while the UV-C lamp is in
operation. Do not look directly into the UV-C lamp,
otherwise it may injure your eyes and your skin.
• The special sera UV-C lamp may be operated only
inside the undamaged sera UV-C System 24 W after
it has been completely assembled according to these
directions for use. Every other use may lead to skin
and eye damage!
• Always keep UV units and UV-C lamps out of the
reach of children!
• All electrical units in and around the aquarium and
pond must be disconnected from the power/mains
supply before conducting work at/in the pond and on
the sera UV-C System 24 W.
• Operate unit only with an inserted fault current protec-
tion switch (RCD or FI with a trip current of 30 mA).
• Do not operate if unit is submerged!
• Do not operate the UV-C system without water flow!
• Ensure that there is sufficient water flow through the
sera UV-C System before switching on the UV-C
lamp. A minimum flow rate [approx. 200 l/h (53 US
gal./h)] must be ensured during operation.
• Usage in or at swimming pools, walk-in ponds or
swimming ponds is not permitted!
• In case of possible frost, disconnect and drain the
sera UV-C System 24 W, and store in a frost-free
location (without water or water remainders). We rec-
ommend thoroughly cleaning and lubricating all seal-
ing rings before winter storage.
• Frequent “ON/OFF” switching reduces the life
expectancy of the UV-C lamp.
• Ensure that the electrical plug of the switched-on unit
is freely accessible at all times.
• Do not lift nor carry electric devices by their mains
cord.
• Although the unit is suitable for permanent operation
we recommend that you do not use it for more than
72 hours without interruption.
