Overview

The Shark Air Purifier HP200 Series is a household appliance designed to improve indoor air quality by filtering out various airborne particles. It features a top control panel and a front display screen, providing users with real-time air quality information and control over its functions.

Function Description:

The air purifier's primary function is to clean the air by drawing in ambient air, passing it through a filter, and then releasing cleaner air back into the room. It utilizes a built-in sensor to detect air quality and can operate in an Auto Mode, where the fan speed automatically adjusts based on the detected particulate matter (PM) levels. The device measures three particle sizes: PM1 (viruses, ultra-fine allergens), PM2.5 (smoke, bacteria), and PM10 (dust, mold, pollen). The air quality is displayed as a percentage of clean air, categorized into "Good," "Fair," and "Poor," with corresponding color rings (blue, amber, red) on the displays. An estimated "Time to Clean Air" is also provided, indicating how long it will take to achieve clean air.

Usage Features:

The air purifier offers several user-friendly features accessible via its top control panel and a remote control.

  • On/Off: Simple button to power the unit on or off.
  • Auto Mode: When activated, the fan speed automatically adjusts based on real-time air quality readings. This mode optimizes filter life and performance by decreasing fan speed as air quality improves and increasing it when air quality worsens.
  • Fan Speed: Users can manually select one of four fan speed settings (Low, Medium, High, Maximum). Manual adjustment deactivates Auto Mode.
  • Air Info: This button allows users to switch between different air quality display options on the front screen, showing various particle sizes and clean air percentage.
  • Brightness: The brightness of both the front display screen and the top control panel can be adjusted to three settings: full brightness, partially dim, or fully dim.
  • Shut-Off Timer: A timer can be set for the air purifier to run for 1 to 12 hours before automatically shutting off.
  • Filter Life Indicator: A dedicated button displays the remaining filter life. When the filter life reaches 0%, the button flashes, indicating that a filter change is required.
  • Child Lock: This feature, activated by holding the button for two seconds, locks the top control panel buttons to prevent unintended changes. Holding it again for two seconds unlocks the panel.
  • Eco Mode: After achieving 100% clean air status for 10 minutes in Auto Mode, the air purifier enters Eco Mode, where the fan turns off until particles are detected again. This optimizes filter life and energy consumption.
  • Mute Beeping: The unit's beeping sounds can be muted by holding the Air Info and Child Lock buttons simultaneously for two seconds.
  • Remote Control: A remote control is included, allowing users to operate the air purifier from a distance with buttons for On/Off, Air Info, Auto Mode, Brightness, Fan Speed, and Shut-Off Timer.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of the air purifier.

  • Filter Replacement: The unit indicates when the filter needs to be replaced via the Filter Life button. Filters are not washable or recyclable and should be disposed of in an airtight plastic bag. Replacement involves flipping the unit, twisting to unlock the filter door, removing the old filter, inserting a new one (after removing all packaging), and twisting the door back into place. After replacement, the Filter Life percentage must be manually reset by holding the Filter Life button for three seconds.
  • Exterior Cleaning: The exterior of the unit should be cleaned every two months or as needed using a microfiber cloth to remove dust. For sanitization, a microfiber cloth dampened with warm, soapy water can be used, avoiding excess water and abrasive chemical cleaners.
  • Interior Cleaning: The interior of the unit should also be cleaned every two months or as needed. This involves removing the filter and using a vacuum cleaner or microfiber cloth to remove dust and debris. Abrasive chemical cleaners should not be used inside the unit.
  • Filter Life Optimization: To maximize filter life, it is recommended to flip and rotate the filter's direction every three months. This helps equalize and balance the distribution of captured particles throughout the filter, allowing for extended usage.
  • Replacement Filters: Replacement filters, including the Shark NanoSeal™ Base Filter with True HEPA and the Shark NanoSeal™ Base Filter with True HEPA + Microban (which offers additional antimicrobial protection), are available for purchase.
