Overview

The Shark Air Purifier 4 (HE400 Series) is a household appliance designed to improve indoor air quality by filtering out pollutants and allergens. It features a sleek, modern design with a control panel on the top and a front display screen, both equipped with digital displays to provide real-time air quality information. The unit is intended for indoor use only and comes with a remote control for convenient operation.

Function Description:

The Shark Air Purifier 4 utilizes a built-in sensor to detect air quality in real-time. It measures three particle sizes: PM1, PM2.5, and PM10, which represent particulate matter such as viruses, ultra-fine allergens, smoke, bacteria, dust, mold, and pollen. Based on these readings, the unit displays an air quality rating (Poor, Fair, or Good) and an estimated "Time to Clean Air" in minutes or hours. The unit is equipped with a multi-stage filtration system, including a Shark™ Anti-Allergen HEPA Filter, which captures pollutants and allergens and incorporates carbon for protection against household odors and VOCs. Depending on the model, it may also include advanced odor lock and fumes lock for heightened protection against formaldehyde and other fumes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: HE400 Series
  • Voltage: 120V~ 60Hz
  • Watts: 67W
  • Filter Type: Shark™ Anti-Allergen HEPA Filter (with variations for Advanced Odor Lock and Fumes Lock)
  • Remote Control Battery: CR2025 3-volt replaceable lithium button/coin cell battery.

  • Safety Features: Includes a polarized plug and warnings against operating with a damaged cord, blocked openings, or on unstable surfaces. It also advises against use in wet, damp, outdoor, or enclosed spaces with explosive or toxic fumes.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Installation and Removal: The filter is located behind a removable cover on the back of the unit. Users must remove the filter from its plastic packaging before initial use. The filter is easily removed by pulling tabs and reinstalled by aligning tabs and pressing into place until it clicks.

It will flash when the filter has 0 hours remaining, indicating it's time for replacement. After installing a new filter, the timer must be reset by pressing and holding the Filter Life button for 3 seconds.
  • Filter Disposal: Used filters cannot be cleaned or recycled and should be wrapped in an airtight plastic bag for disposal. Gloves are recommended when handling dirty filters.
  • Exterior Cleaning: The exterior of the unit should be cleaned every two months or as needed with a microfiber cloth to remove dust. For sanitizing, a microfiber cloth dampened with warm, soapy water can be used. Abrasive chemical cleaners and excess water should be avoided.
  • Interior Cleaning: The interior of the unit should be cleaned every two months or as needed. After removing the filter cover and filter, a vacuum cleaner or microfiber cloth can be used to remove dust and debris. Abrasive chemical cleaners should not be used inside the unit.
  • Filter Flipping Recommendation: To maximize filter life and equalize particle distribution, it is recommended to flip the filter's direction every three months.
  • Remote Control Battery Replacement: The remote uses a CR2025 3-volt battery. Replacement involves unscrewing the battery tray, sliding it out, replacing the old battery (disposing of it according to local regulations), and resecuring the tray.
