Overview

The Shark WANDVAC™ WV201 is a cord-free handheld vacuum designed for quick and convenient cleaning tasks around the home. Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to maneuver and store, while its cordless operation provides unrestricted mobility.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Shark WANDVAC™ is to provide powerful suction for cleaning dry debris from various surfaces. It is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that allows for cordless operation, offering freedom from power outlets during use. The vacuum is designed for household use and is not intended for commercial or industrial applications. It features a simple power button for activation and deactivation, making it user-friendly. The device is specifically designed to vacuum dry materials and should never be used to pick up liquids, as this can damage the unit and pose a safety risk.

Usage Features:

The WANDVAC™ comes with several features that enhance its usability. It includes a charging stand and base for convenient storage and recharging. The charging stand is designed to hold the vacuum with the nozzle in a cradle, ensuring it's always ready for use. The charger cord routes neatly through the base, minimizing clutter. The vacuum also includes an onboard accessory storage tray, which is a double pocket designed to hold the included accessories: a duster crevice tool and a multi-surface pet tool. These accessories can be easily attached to the nozzle to tackle different cleaning challenges, such as reaching into tight spaces or cleaning pet hair from upholstery.

Before first use, the lithium-ion battery must be fully charged, even if it comes with a partial charge. The charging process is indicated by a blue light on the vacuum. A blinking blue light signifies a low battery, while a solid blue light indicates that the unit is charging. Once fully charged, the blue light will fade in and out, or dim, depending on the model. It's recommended to run the battery completely down during the first use to properly condition it, then charge it fully. A full charge typically takes approximately 2.5 hours.

To operate the vacuum, simply press the power button. The nozzle can then be run over the surface to be cleaned. The compact size and cordless nature make it ideal for quick clean-ups, spills, and reaching areas that larger vacuums might struggle with, such as stairs, car interiors, or furniture.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of the Shark WANDVAC™. The vacuum features an easy-to-empty dust cup and a removable, washable filter system.

Emptying the Dust Cup:

To empty the dust cup, first ensure the power is off. Then, slide the "Open Dust Cup" button forward, which will cause the dust cup to swing open. The dust cup filter screen can be lightly tapped to dislodge dust and debris. Any remaining dust and dirt on the dust cup bristles can be wiped away with a dry cloth.

Cleaning the Filter:

The filter system consists of a filter housing and a fabric filter. To access the filter for cleaning, ensure the power is off and the dust cup is open. Pinch both sides of the filter housing and slide it forward to remove it from the vacuum. Over a trash can, the fabric filter can be lifted by its metal ring to remove it from the housing. For light cleaning, the fabric filter can be tapped to remove dust and large particles. For a deeper clean, the fabric filter should be hand-washed with water only and allowed to air-dry for 24 hours before reinstallation. The filter housing itself can also be hand-washed with water after the fabric filter has been removed. It is important to ensure the filter is thoroughly dry before reinstalling it into the vacuum. Using the vacuum without the dust cup and filter in place, or with a wet filter, can damage the unit and void the warranty.

Troubleshooting:

The vacuum provides light indicators for troubleshooting common issues. A blinking blue light indicates a low battery, while a blue light that blinks twice and then pauses signals a blockage. In the event of a blockage, the user should turn off the power, remove the obstruction, and then power the unit on again. A solid blue light means the power is on, and a fading in and out or dim blue light indicates the unit is fully charged. If there is no light, the unit is either off or needs to be recharged.

The device is not designed for vacuuming hard or sharp objects like glass, nails, screws, or coins, nor should it be used for drywall dust, fireplace ash, embers, or as an attachment to power tools. It is also critical to avoid vacuuming up smoking or burning objects, flammable or combustible materials, toxic solutions, or using it in enclosed spaces with hazardous vapors.

Battery Disposal:

The Shark WANDVAC™ uses a rechargeable and reusable lithium-ion battery. When the battery no longer holds a charge and needs to be replaced, it should be removed from the hand vacuum and recycled according to local ordinances and regulations. It is illegal in many areas to dispose of spent lithium-ion batteries in the trash. Users should return spent batteries to an authorized recycling center or retailer for recycling. The RBRC™ seal on the battery indicates that the costs for recycling have already been paid by SharkNinja, promoting environmentally conscious disposal. The battery should never be incinerated or composted.

Overall, the Shark WANDVAC™ WV201 is a versatile and easy-to-maintain handheld vacuum, perfect for everyday cleaning tasks, provided the user adheres to the safety and maintenance guidelines outlined in the manual.
