3. WINDING FAILURE AT VSR
Remove cassette
controller, turn
ower on and press
LAY key.
Is tokerup normal Go to 2. REPLAY
during playback ? FAILURE routine.
YES press VSR key. (Turn
take-up reef disk by
hand.)
Is brake shifter at Replace brake
VSR position ? shifter.
Does idler gear
swing toward
supply reel disk ?
Replace idler
assembly.
Is supply reel disk
torque between
140 and 200 g-cm?
Replace supply
jaal disk.
Check SYSCON-
SERVO PWB.
4. UNUSUAL SOUND IN EACH MODE
Insert cassette and press play
and STOP keys repeatedly.
Check for rattling Replace Loading block
sound during
loading/unloading. sub-assembly.
YES
Turn power off and remove
cassette controller.
Is reel disk height as NO | Readjust reel disk
specified (using jig) ? z height. ry
Power ON
FF key IN
lurn take-up reel disk
slowly with finger.
Are take-up ree!
stopper and PB gear
rubbing each other ?
Is no unusual sound
heard at FF ?
Replace take-up reel
stopper.
YES YES
Press REW key and turn take- | Undo reel belt, turn
up reel disk by hand. take-up disk by hand
and press FF key.
Is no unusual sound
heard with capstan
DD MOTOR running ?
Is no unusual sound
Rae REW? Replace capstan DD.

Move supply reel disk
up and down. Is there
excessive thrust gap ?
Replace supply reel
stopper.
Turn supply reel disk
slowly. !s there no
rubbing at bottom ?
YES
Replace supply reel
disk.
if there is no unusual
sound heard again in
each mode, go back to
the start of routine to
recheck.
