  If your Shindaiwa Chainsaw engine doesn't start, several factors could be the cause. First, ensure the ignition switch is in the “I” (ON) position. If it still doesn't start, the fuel might be incorrect, stale, or contaminated; in this case, refill with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher mixed with 50:1 Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil or with an equivalent high quality 2-cycle mixing oil. Also, the plug might be fouled or improperly gapped, so clean and regap the plug to 0.6 mm and try restarting. Excess fuel in the cylinder can also prevent starting; crank the engine with the plug removed, reinstall the plug, and restart. Finally, a damaged or wrong-sized plug could be the issue, so replace the plug with a NGK BPMR7A and restart.

Fuel issues can also cause this problem, so refill with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher mixed with 50:1 Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil or with an equivalent high quality 2-cycle mixing oil, or refill with fresh fuel/oil mixture, and also check fuel octane rating and for the presence of alcohol in the fuel, refueling as necessary.
