How to start a Shindaiwa 352s that won't start?
    • M
      Ms. Valerie HarrisonAug 7, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Chainsaw engine doesn't start, several factors could be the cause. First, ensure the ignition switch is in the “I” (ON) position. If it still doesn't start, the fuel might be incorrect, stale, or contaminated; in this case, refill with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher mixed with 50:1 Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil or with an equivalent high quality 2-cycle mixing oil. Also, the plug might be fouled or improperly gapped, so clean and regap the plug to 0.6 mm and try restarting. Excess fuel in the cylinder can also prevent starting; crank the engine with the plug removed, reinstall the plug, and restart. Finally, a damaged or wrong-sized plug could be the issue, so replace the plug with a NGK BPMR7A and restart.

What to do if Shindaiwa Chainsaw engine stops abruptly?
    • J
      Joshua HallAug 17, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Chainsaw engine stops abruptly, there are a few things to check. First, ensure the chain brake is not engaged; inspect and/or test the brake. Also, see if the switch was turned off accidentally, and if so, reset the switch and restart. A lean fuel/air mixture or an idle speed set too low can also cause this; adjust to 3,000 RPM min[-1]. Finally, check if the fuel tank is empty.

How to fix a Shindaiwa 352s chain that rotates at idle speed?
    • D
      Deanna JohnsonAug 22, 2025
If the chain on your Shindaiwa Chainsaw rotates at idle speed, it could be due to a few reasons. The engine might be overheated, so allow the engine to idle until cool. Alternatively, the engine idle might be set too high; set the idle to 3,000 RPM min[-1]. Lastly, a broken or worn clutch spring or worn clutch spring boss can cause this issue; replace the spring/shoes as required and check the idle speed.

Why is my Shindaiwa 352s Chainsaw engine difficult to shut off?
    • K
      Kevin MooreAug 27, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Chainsaw engine is difficult to shut off, several issues could be responsible. A clogged fuel filter can cause this, so replace the fuel filter. Also, a shorted spark plug or loose terminal can prevent proper shutoff; clean or replace the spark plug with a NGK BPMR7A and tighten the terminal. Another possible cause is overheating due to an incorrect spark plug, so replace the spark plug with a NGK BPMR7A. Ignition failure can also cause this issue, so replace the ignition unit.

Why does my Shindaiwa 352s have low power output?
    • F
      fischerbenjaminNov 10, 2025
Several factors can cause low power output in your Shindaiwa Chainsaw. Make sure you are not overworking the unit and try cutting at a slower rate. A clogged air cleaner element can restrict airflow, so clean or replace the air filter. Fuel issues can also cause this problem, so refill with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher mixed with 50:1 Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil or with an equivalent high quality 2-cycle mixing oil, or refill with fresh fuel/oil mixture, and also check fuel octane rating and for the presence of alcohol in the fuel, refueling as necessary. Additionally, a loose or damaged spark plug can lead to reduced power, so tighten or replace the plug with a NGK BPMR7A. Air leakage or a clogged fuel line can also be responsible; repair or r...
