Overview

This document is an installation and maintenance guide for Showerlux Linea Touch and Glide Pivot Door Enclosures. It provides detailed instructions for assembly, installation, and care, along with a list of components and required tools.

Function Description:

The Showerlux Linea Touch and Glide Pivot Door Enclosures are designed to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing shower space. These enclosures feature a pivot door mechanism, allowing for easy entry and exit. The manual covers two product types: Linea Touch (which is primarily illustrated) and Glide. The primary function is to contain water within the shower area, preventing splashes and maintaining a dry bathroom environment. The design emphasizes ease of installation and long-term durability.

Important Technical Specifications:

The manual does not explicitly list comprehensive technical specifications such as dimensions, materials, or weight limits. However, it provides implicit details through the installation process:

  • Drill Bit Sizes: An 8mm masonry bit is required for drilling wall holes (50mm depth), and a 2.8mm drill bit is used for fixing internal profiles.
  • Screw Sizes: 9.5mm pan head screws (L) are used for fixing sections together, and 13mm countersunk screws (M) are used for fixing frame caps. 65mm countersunk screws (N) are used to fix the enclosure sides to wall plugs.
  • Wall Plug Size: Wall plugs (O) are designed for 8mm drilled holes.
  • Wall Channel Spacing: Wall channels should be positioned 10mm from the front edge of the shower tray.
  • Silicone Application: Silicone sealant is applied along the entire vertical length of the wall channels against the walls from the inside, and from the outside along the bottom of the enclosure on the shower tray and 10cm up each wall and joint between wall channel and side profiles. Crucially, the lower horizontal frame on the inside and the ends of the vertical profiles should not be siliconed.
  • Handle Types: The Linea Touch model features a specific handle assembly (part no. 24828), while the Glide model uses a different handle assembly (part no. DS-2-123). The Linea Touch handle includes a door knob on the inside, which must be in the top position.
  • Glass Edges: The manual stresses the importance of inspecting all exposed glass edges and corners upon receipt, as damaged edges can lead to spontaneous breakage over time.

Usage Features:

  • Pivot Door Mechanism: The enclosure utilizes a pivot door, allowing for smooth opening and closing. The closing tension of the glass door onto the vertical seal can be adjusted by loosening hinge adjustment screws and moving the pivot block.
  • Reversible Installation: The unit can be installed for either left-hand or right-hand opening. The illustrations show a left-hand installation; for a right-hand installation, the unit should be rotated top to bottom.
  • Water Containment: The drip deflector (Z5) is designed to direct water to the outside of the enclosure, ensuring effective water containment. The main seal flipper on the pivot door must make full contact with the glass edge to prevent leaks.
  • Handle Options: Two distinct handle designs are available, corresponding to the Linea Touch and Glide product types.

Maintenance Features:

  • Glass Cleaning: To prevent water spots, a squeegee (supplied in the fixing pack) should be used to wipe down the glass after every shower.
  • General Cleaning: All aluminium sections and plastic parts should be cleaned with plenty of water and a soft cloth or sponge.
  • Prohibited Cleaners: Solvents or abrasive chemicals must not be used on the product.
  • Recommended Cleaner: Showerlux 'Showerclean' is recommended for weekly use to reduce limescale buildup.
  • Lubrication: Roller assemblies or other moving hinge parts may require occasional lubrication with a high-quality silicone spray.
  • Squeegee: A squeegee is provided to help maintain the glass and prevent water spot formation.

Installation Considerations:

  • Level Shower Tray: It is critical that the shower tray is level in all directions and completely sealed to the tiles before installation.
  • Surface Requirements: The product must only be fitted onto tiled or waterproof surfaces.
  • Wall Fixings: The supplied wall plugs and screws are for solid walls and floors only; alternative fixings are needed for other surfaces.
  • Tray Overhang: The enclosure must not overhang the front of the shower tray.
  • Packing Blocks: Packing blocks on the unit should not be removed until Step 8 to prevent damage.
  • Wall Channel Positioning: Accurate positioning of wall channels (10mm from the tray edge, perfectly vertical and parallel) is crucial for optimal door action and performance.
  • Frame Verticality: The enclosure frame must be vertical, and the frame profile should not be bowed.
  • Seal Contact: The main seal flipper on the handle side of the pivot door must make full contact with the glass edge to ensure proper sealing.
  • Customer Information: The instruction leaflet should be left with the customer after installation.
