External Reference cold junction compensation using a remote RTD
It is possible to use an external module to measure the temperature of the reference junction and pass this temperature to
the AI 6 x TC Isolated module using SFC58 in data set number 2, DS2.
The allowable reference temperature is the climatic temperature range for platinum RTDs.

Kelvin is limited to 327.6 K only when reporting the reference temperature in climatic units. The Kelvin limit is 428.2 K when
reporting the reference temperature in standard units.
A reference input received in DS2 that is outside the allowable temperature limit will result in a reference channel fault
indicated in the standard channel diagnostic data and a diagnostic interrupt will be sent if enabled.
Note
When using an analog input module such as AI 8 X RTD to measure the reference junction temperature, the RTD module
parameters for output format and precision must be represented in DS2 in Bytes 0 and 1 per Figure Structure for Data
Record 2 for TC. Failure to provide accurate information of the format and scale of the data provided by the external RTD
module will result in inaccurate readings from the AI 6 X TC Isolated module.
