Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for operating and maintaining a dishwasher, covering initial setup, daily usage, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The dishwasher is designed to clean tableware efficiently using various wash programs and features. It incorporates a water softening system to optimize cleaning performance based on local water hardness, a special salt dispenser, a rinse aid dispenser, and a detergent dispenser. The appliance can also be connected to a mobile device via the Home Connect app for convenient remote control and settings adjustments.

Usage Features

Initial Setup and Home Connect: To begin, users are guided through setting up Home Connect by installing the app on a mobile device and scanning a QR code. This allows for remote control and monitoring of the dishwasher.

Water Softening System: The dishwasher features an adjustable water softening system. Users can select the appropriate water hardness setting (H00 to H07) based on their local water supply. This is done by accessing the basic settings menu, pressing the "Setup 3 sec." button, and repeatedly pressing "Start" until the desired hardness value is set. The setting is then saved by pressing "Setup 3 sec." again. This system ensures optimal cleaning results and prevents limescale buildup.

Adding Special Salt: Special salt is crucial for the water softening system. To add salt, the lid of the dispenser must be unscrewed. For initial startup, the dispenser should be filled completely with water before adding the special salt. It's important to add salt just before starting a program to prevent damage to the appliance. Detergent should never be added to the special salt dispenser. After adding salt, the lid should be replaced and turned to close securely.

Adding Rinse Aid: Rinse aid helps to ensure streak-free drying and adds shine to tableware. To add rinse aid, the catch on the dispenser lid needs to be pressed and lifted. Rinse aid should be filled up to the "max" mark. After filling, the lid should be closed until it clicks into position.

Adding Detergent: Detergent is added to a dedicated dry dispenser. The dispenser typically has markings (e.g., 15 ml, 25 ml, 50 ml) to guide the user on the appropriate amount. After adding the detergent, the dispenser lid must be closed until it clicks into position.

Operating the Appliance: The general usage sequence involves:

  1. Loading tableware: Only dishwasher-safe items should be loaded, with large food remnants removed. It's important to ensure that the spray arms can rotate freely without obstruction.
  2. Adding detergent: As described above.
  3. Switching on the appliance.
  4. Selecting a program: The dishwasher offers various programs, including "Intensive 70°," "Auto 45-65°," "Eco 50°," "Speed 65°," "Speed 45°," "Machine Care," and "Favourite." Each program has different durations, energy consumption, and water usage.
  5. Starting the program: Pressing the "Start" button initiates the selected program.
  6. Unloading tableware: Once the program is complete, the clean tableware can be removed.
  7. Cancelling a program: To cancel a running program, press "Reset 4 sec." for approximately 4 seconds. The program will then be cancelled and end after about 1 minute.

Program Overview: The manual provides a table detailing various programs with their estimated duration, energy consumption, and water usage. These figures are based on European standard EN 60436 and may vary depending on selected additional functions.

  • Intensive 70°: Suitable for heavily soiled items.
  • Auto 45-65°: Automatically adjusts settings based on soil level.
  • Eco 50°: An energy-efficient program for normal soil.
  • Speed 65° / Speed 45°: Faster programs for lightly soiled items.
  • Machine Care: A dedicated program for cleaning the dishwasher itself.
  • Favourite: A customizable program, often used for quick washes or specific settings.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning Filters: Regular cleaning of the filters is essential for optimal performance and to prevent blockages.

  1. Check for residue: After each wash, inspect the filters for any food remnants.
  2. Remove filter system: Turn the coarse filter anticlockwise and remove the entire filter system.
  3. Remove micro filter: Pull down to remove the micro filter.
  4. Remove coarse filter: Press the locking catches together and lift out the coarse filter.
  5. Clean filter elements: Wash all filter elements under running water.
  6. Re-assemble filter system: Insert the filter system back into the appliance and turn the coarse filter clockwise, ensuring the arrow markings align.

Cleaning Spray Arms: The spray arms can become blocked by food particles, affecting cleaning performance.

  1. Remove upper spray arm: Unscrew and pull down the upper spray arm.
  2. Remove lower spray arm: Pull up the lower spray arm.
  3. Check outlet nozzles: Inspect the nozzles on both spray arms for blockages and remove any foreign bodies under running water.
  4. Re-insert lower spray arm: Push it back until it clicks into position.
  5. Re-insert upper spray arm: Insert and screw it firmly in place.

Cleaning Wastewater Pump: If the wastewater pump is blocked, it can prevent proper drainage.

  1. Disconnect power: Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply before performing maintenance.
  2. Remove filter system: As described above.
  3. Scoop out water: Remove any standing water from the bottom of the dishwasher.
  4. Remove pump cover: Prise off the pump cover using a spoon and grip it by the crosspiece.
  5. Lift and remove pump cover: Lift the pump cover inwards at an angle and remove it.
  6. Remove debris: Remove any food remnants or foreign bodies from the impeller area.
  7. Re-insert pump cover: Insert the pump cover and press down until it clicks into position.
  8. Install filter system: Re-assemble the filter system.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • E:32-00 / Water supply indicator: Indicates issues with water supply, such as a kinked hose, closed water tap, jammed tap, or blocked filters in the water connection. Solutions involve checking and correcting these issues, including cleaning the filter in the supply hose.
  • E:92-40: Indicates soiled or blocked filters. Solution: Clean the filters.
  • E:61-02: Indicates a blocked wastewater pump or a loose pump cover. Solutions involve cleaning the wastewater pump or securing its cover.
  • Remnants of food on tableware: Can be caused by overcrowded baskets, blocked spray arm rotation, blocked spray arm nozzles, soiled filters, incorrectly inserted filters, or a program that is too weak. Solutions include proper loading, cleaning spray arms and filters, ensuring filters are correctly inserted, and selecting a more intensive program.
  • Removable streaks on glasses/cutlery: Often due to too much rinse aid. Solution: Set the rinse aid system to a lower setting.
  • No rinse aid has been added: Solution: Add rinse aid.
  • Rust spots on cutlery: Caused by non-rust-resistant cutlery or washing rusting items together. Solutions include using rust-resistant tableware and avoiding washing rusting items with other cutlery.
  • Detergent residue: Can occur if spray arms are blocked by tableware, preventing detergent from being rinsed out. Solution: Check that spray arms are not blocked and can rotate freely.
