This document provides comprehensive information for the safe and efficient use of your Siemens induction hob with an integrated ventilation system. It covers everything from initial setup and basic operation to advanced cooking functions, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
The appliance is designed for preparing meals and drinks under supervision in private households and enclosed domestic spaces, up to an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. It should not be used on boats, in vehicles, or with external timers/remote controls (unless specifically designed for such operation). It is also not intended for extracting hazardous, explosive substances, or small parts and liquids.
Safety is paramount. Always read the instruction manual carefully and keep it, the appliance, and product information safe for future reference. Do not connect a damaged appliance. Only a licensed professional should connect the appliance, as incorrect connection voids the warranty.
Restriction on user group: Children aged 8 or over, and individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental abilities, or inadequate experience, may use the appliance if supervised and instructed on safe use. Children must not play with the appliance or perform cleaning/maintenance unless they are at least 15 years old and supervised. Keep children under 8 away from the appliance and power cable.
Risk of suffocation: Keep small parts and packaging material away from children.
Risk of poisoning: If operating the appliance in exhaust air mode simultaneously with a room-air-dependent heat-producing appliance (e.g., gas, oil, wood, or coal heaters), ensure adequate fresh air supply to prevent flue gases from being drawn back into the living space. Consult a chimney sweep to assess ventilation and suggest suitable measures. Unrestricted operation is possible in circulating-air mode.
Risk of fire: Never leave hot oil or fat unattended, as it can lead to fires. Do not use water to extinguish a fire; instead, switch off the appliance and cover with a lid or fire blanket. The cooking surface becomes very hot, so never place flammable objects or other items on it. Do not store combustible objects or aerosol cans in drawers directly underneath the hob. Do not use hob covers. Always switch off the hob using the main switch after every use. Fatty deposits in grease filters can catch fire, so never operate without a grease filter and clean them regularly. Avoid naked flames near the appliance and do not install it near solid fuel heating appliances unless they have a sealed, non-removable cover.
Risk of burns: The appliance and its parts, especially the hob surround, become hot during use. Exercise caution to avoid touching heating elements. Keep young children under 8 away. Never use hob protective grilles. Metal objects on the hob quickly become hot, so do not place knives, forks, spoons, or lids on it. Allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning. If hot liquids penetrate, only remove the grease filter or overflow container after cooling.
Risk of electric shock: Improper repairs are dangerous. Only trained specialist staff should carry out repairs using genuine spare parts. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or Customer Service. Never operate a damaged appliance or one with a cracked surface. Do not pull the power cord to unplug; always unplug at the mains. If the appliance or power cable is damaged, immediately switch off the fuse in the fuse box and call Customer Service. Do not use steam or high-pressure cleaners. Prevent electrical appliance cables from touching hot parts of the appliance.
Risk of injury: Saucepans may jump due to liquid between the base and hotplate. Always keep hotplates and saucepan bases dry. Do not use icy-cold cookware from the freezer.
To prevent damage, monitor cooking processes, especially with high-sugar content foods, and remove spills immediately with a glass scraper. Use suitable, good-condition cookware. Clean the hob only when cold, using cleaning agents suitable for glass ceramic. Avoid hitting the glass or dropping objects on it. Lift cookware when moving it to prevent scratches. Do not use the hob as a work surface or storage space. Never use frozen or empty cookware on a hot cooking zone. Do not place greaseproof paper, aluminum foil, plastic containers, or pot lids on the hob. Avoid placing hot cookware on the control panel or frame. If the appliance surface is cracked, do not use it.
Disposing of packaging: Packaging materials are environmentally compatible and recyclable. Sort components by type and dispose of them separately.
Saving energy: Select cooking zones to match pan size, centering cookware on the hob. Use cookware with a base diameter similar to the hotplate. Large cookware with little food requires more energy. Cook with minimal water. Reduce power levels early on. Adjust fan speed to steam production; lower speeds consume less energy. Switch off the appliance when not in use. Ensure sufficient ventilation during cooking for efficiency and reduced noise. Clean or replace filters regularly to maintain effectiveness.
Cookware for induction cooking must have a ferromagnetic base (attracted by a magnet) and match the cooking zone size. If cookware isn't detected, try a smaller diameter zone.
Cookware materials and properties:
Notes: Do not use adapter plates. Do not heat empty cookware or thin-based cookware, as they can become very hot. Use the "Cookware test" function (Page 17) to check suitability.
The appliance consists of a hob (3), control panel (4), grease filter (1), odour filter for circulating-air mode or acoustics filter for air extraction mode (2), and an overflow container (5).
Special accessories: Depending on the model, various accessories like air extraction/recirculation sets, odour filters, and acoustics filters are available from specialist retailers, after-sales service, or the official website.
Control panel: Features a main switch (①), cooking zone selectors (--), a settings area, and a powerBoost (boost) button. Keep the control panel clean and dry. Avoid placing cookware near displays or buttons to prevent overheating.
Cooking zones:
Residual heat indicator: Displays 'H' for hot and 'h' for warm. Do not touch a cooking zone if the indicator is lit.
Saturation indicator: Displays 'F' when anti-odour filters are saturated and need replacement.
If connected to Home Connect, some functions may be available via software updates. More information is available on the Siemens Home website.
The appliance can operate in air extraction mode or circulating-air mode.
Air extraction mode: Air is cleaned by grease filters and conveyed outside via a pipe system. The exhaust air must not be discharged into a flue used for other fuel-burning appliances. If discharging into a non-functioning flue, obtain consent from a heating engineer. If discharging through an external wall, use a telescopic duct. Ensure adequate fresh air supply when operating simultaneously with room-air-dependent heat-producing appliances.
Air recirculation mode: Air is cleaned by grease filters and an odour filter, then returned to the room. An odour filter must be installed. Various options for this mode are in the catalogue or available from dealers/specialists. When cooking intensively, ventilate the kitchen adequately (e.g., by opening a window) to remove excessive moisture.
Initial cleaning: Remove packaging, wipe the hob surface with a damp cloth. Recommended detergents are on the Siemens Home website.
Preparing the appliance: Insert the filter and then the metal grease filter. Never operate without the metal grease filter and overflow container.
Cooking with induction: Induction technology offers time and energy savings, easier cleaning, and improved heat control as heat is generated directly in the cookware.
Cookware: A list of recommended cookware is on the Siemens Home website.
Setting the operating mode: The appliance is supplied with a preset circulating-air mode. If installed with an air outlet to the outside, configure setting 'c 17' to air extraction mode (see "Basic settings," Page 16).
