Intended Use
The device is part of the SICAM A8000 system. The SICAM A8000 system
is designed for electrical distribution stations, gas distribution stations,
hydropower plants, pipelines, and railroad power supplies.
The device is not intended for use in safety-relevant applications. This
device is a class A product and may cause radio interference in a
domestic environment.
Hazardous voltages can result in death, physical injury, or
substantial material damage. Voltages can be present in the
device even after disconnecting the supply voltage (capacitors
can still be charged). Observe the safety instructions in the
manuals! Observe the technical specifications!
Only an electrically qualified person is allowed to connect,
ground, mark, commission, and disconnect the equipment
(devices and modules).
Observe manuals. The system is intended exclusively for use
in accordance with the manuals. The manuals contain
information on combining with other devices and components,
installation and connection notes, terminal diagrams,
connection diagrams, and technical specifications.

Storing and Unpacking the Device
Check packaging for transport damage.
Storage: -30 °C to +85 °C (-22 °F to +185 °F). Clean environment.
Dry room so that no ice or condensation forms.
Operating temperature: -40 °C to +70 °C (-40 °F to +158 °F).
Visually check the device for any mechanical defects. Do not use
damaged device.
Fitting the Device
For detailed instructions, refer to the user manual.
WARNING! Only unplug or put in plugs when system is de-energized.
Prior to connecting: Properly ground the device through the ground contact
of the DIN rail.
Maintain a minimum distance of 20 mm around the system (see
fig. I). Screw the DIN rail properly to a grounded metallic base.
Fit the device into the upper edge of the DIN rail at an angle (see
fig. II).
Pull down the locking hooks until they hold in open position. Swivel
the device towards the DIN rail until the locking hooks come into
contact with the bottom edge of the DIN rail and push (see fig. II).
Press the device onto the DIN rail until the locking hooks engage
(fig. III).
When using a cable management with a depth of 100 mm below the
device, a distance of at least 50 mm is required between the device
and the cable management – otherwise disassembly will be more
difficult.
Connecting the Device
Install and label the miniature circuit breaker for the device.
For wiring, only use conductors in accordance with the project
engineering (refer to user manual).
Screw Terminals for Outputs/Inputs and Power Supply
Tightening torque at clamping screws 0.4 Nm to 0.5 Nm.
Connection with prepared solid or stranded wire conductors. Cross-
section 12 to 24 AWG (according to UL) / 0.34 mm² to 2.5 mm²
(according to IEC). Stripped length: 6 mm to 7 mm.
Connection of stranded wire conductors with bootlace ferrule with or
without plastic collar. Cross-section 0.34 mm² to 2.5 mm².
Terminals for Communication
Ethernet/LAN (X1, X2, X3): RJ45 socket 8-pole (IEC 60603-7)
Serial RS-232 (X5): RJ45 socket 8-pole (IEC 60603-7)
Serial RS-485 (X4, X6): RJ45 socket 8-pole (IEC 60603-7)
X7 Zigbee, X8 LTE (only CP-8012): R-SMA, SMA
Module Specific Information
Connect power supply at plug X22 to pin 1 (+) and to pin 4 (N/-) (do
not connect to X11, X12).
I/O modules can only be used in combination with the CM-8810
coupling module. CM-8810 can be ordered as a spare part for CP-
8010, CP-8012 devices.
AI-8510: For current measurement, install the required CM-8820
adaptor module at the end of the I/O module line and connect it to
AI-8510.
AI-8511: Do not connect directly to a mains supply circuit!
CP-8010, CP-8012 supports snap-fit LCD display (CM-8880) that can
be ordered as a spare part.
For PS modules, it is recommended to install an external fuse to
avoid damage to the device.
AI-8330: Use enclosed bus connector plug (CM-8816) instead of bus
connector plug (CM-8812) enclosed with AI-8340.
CM-0847 is the recommended fiber-optical interface for RS-232 port
(X5).
