Overview

This document describes the Siemens Flush-mounted sensors and room operator units for KNX PL-Link, specifically models QMX3.P35H... and QMX3.P38H.... These devices are designed for Desigo™ Room Automation and serve as communicating sensors, switches, and room operator units.

Function Description

The room operator units integrate into a KNX PL-Link system, providing comprehensive control and monitoring capabilities for room automation. They function as a central interface for users to interact with various room functions. The core functionality is determined by the room automation station, which dictates the behavior of both the LCD display and the touch screen.

Key functions include:

  • Measurement and Indication: The devices measure and display room temperature, humidity, PM2.5, and CO2 levels. They can also indicate external information such as outdoor temperature and humidity, depending on the application.
  • Operation of Room Functions: Users can operate various room functions directly from the unit. This includes controlling lighting, blinds, and scene settings, particularly with the QMX3.P38H models.
  • Energy Efficiency: An integrated "Green Leaf" function promotes energy efficiency.
  • User Interface: The units feature a 160 x 128 pixel touch screen and an LCD display to show relevant information and provide an intuitive user interface.
  • KNX PL-Link Integration: Designed for KNX PL-Link, these devices offer plug & play functionality, simplifying installation and commissioning. They are powered directly over the KNX PL-Link bus.
  • Sound Buzzer: A sound buzzer provides audible feedback for user interactions or alerts.
  • Housing Options: The units are available in white (RAL9003) or black (Pantone Black C) housing to suit different aesthetic preferences.

Usage Features

Mechanical Design and Mounting:

  • Mounting: The devices are designed for wall and flush mounting with a common square conduit box (not included, must be ordered separately).
  • Base Plate: The base plate has screw holes compatible with common conduit boxes. Screw head height must not exceed 3 mm.
  • Integrated Components: The device incorporates a KNX PL-Link plug, a tool plug, sensor element, and an LCD touch panel. The cable can be hidden within the conduit box. A KNX plug is enclosed with the devices.
  • Recommended Height: 1.50 m above the floor.
  • Placement Restrictions: Do not mount devices in recesses, shelves, behind curtains or doors, or above/near heat sources. Avoid direct solar radiation and drafts.
  • Sealing: Seal the conduit box or installation tube to prevent air currents from affecting sensor readings.
  • Installation: Only electrical installers should install the base plate and the KNX PL-Link plug. Refer to the Desigo TRA installation guide (A6V10361918) for KNX PL-Link wiring, allowed cables, and cable length. Use correct cables for the KNX PL-Link bus.
  • Wiring: Do not interchange the wires of the KNX PL-Link cable (red terminal for +, gray terminal for -). The devices are protected against faulty wiring, but communications will not work if wires are interchanged. Do not connect the KNX / KNX PL-Link bus to the tool plug; only the tool should be connected there.

Operational Setting:

  • Dependence on Control Program: Operation and display of the room operator unit depend on the control program of the room automation station.
  • Main Page Display: The main page displays HVAC functions for all types, showing current temperature, setpoint, operating mode (AUTO), and fan speed. For QMX3.P38H models, the main page also displays lighting, blinds, and scene controls.
  • Icons: Various icons are used to indicate inside/outside temperature, temperature/humidity/CO2/PM2.5 display, operating mode (Comfort, Pre-comfort, Economy, Protection), heating/cooling status, green leaf for energy efficiency, operational elements, relative/absolute setpoint, locked status, fan speed (AUTO, OFF, 1, 2, 3), navigation, occupancy state, programming mode, connection test, and reset to factory settings.
  • Lighting, Blinds, and Scenes (QMX3.P38H, QMX3.P38H-BSC): Dedicated icons allow control of individual lights (Light A, B, C, D), blinds (Blind 1, 2, 3, 4), and scene settings such as Meeting, Presentation, Break, Occupied/Unoccupied, Cleaning, Do not disturb, and Amusement.

Manual Commissioning (KNX PL-Link):

  • Process: All commissioning is done via the room automation station using SSA-DNT or ABT. ABT is not connected directly to the room operator unit.
  • Steps:
    1. Connect SSA-DNT or ABT to the room automation station and activate the online commissioning function.
    2. Load the web page "KNX PL-Link identification" and activate the identification function. The room automation station will wait for a signal.
    3. On the room operator unit, enter Engineering mode by pressing a specific area (blank space on bottom right for unconfigured units, or the dedicated icon for QMX3.P35H/QMX3.P38H) for at least 5 seconds.
    4. The "Engineering" page will display.
    5. Press "Program." The display changes from "Off" to "On." The tool identifies the unit and assigns an address.
    6. After commissioning, the display automatically changes to "Off."

Connecting the Tool:

  • The ABT can be connected directly to the room automation station or to the room unit using a tool cable and the OCI702 service interface (refer to data sheet A6V10438951) to load applications or for service purposes.
  • The tool plug is a 2.5 mm jack. The RJ45 plug of the tool cable has specific pin assignments for CE+, KNX, CE-, KNX, Voltage 16 V, ID pin, and GND.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  • Cleaning Agents: The device can be cleaned with off-the-shelf, solvent-free cleaning agents.
  • Cleaning Tools: Use only a soft, damp cloth. Do not use mechanical aids such as rough sponges or similar materials.

Disposal:
