Maintenance
Failure to properly maintain the equipment could result in
death, serious injury or equipment failure, and can prevent
successful functioning of connected apparatus.
The instructions contained herein should be carefully reviewed,
understood and followed.
The maintenance tasks described in Table 3: Maintenance tasks
and in the type SDV6 distribution circuit breaker operator
instruction manual E50001-F710-A251-X-76US must be
performed regularly.
Note: A preventive
maintenance program is not
intended to cover
reconditioning or major
repair, but should be
designed to reveal, if
possible, the need for such
actions in time to prevent
malfunctions during
operation.
Inspection items and tests
Checks of primary current path
Cleanliness check
Inspection of flexible connectors
Checks of stored-energy operator mechanism
Maintenance and lubrication
Fastener check
Manual spring-charging check
Contact-erosion check
Electrical control checks
Wiring and terminals checks
Automatic spring-charging check
Electrical close and trip check
Vacuum-integrity test/high-potential test
Insulation and contact-resistance tests
Inspection and cleaning of circuit breaker insulation
Functional tests

Recommended maintenance and
lubrication
Periodic maintenance and lubrication
should include all the tasks shown in
Table 3: Maintenance tasks on page 27.
Recommended procedures for each of the
listed tasks are provided in this section of
the instruction manual or in the
maintenance section of the type 3AH
distribution circuit breaker operator
instruction manual, E50001-F710-A251-X-
76US.
The list of tasks in Table 3: Maintenance
tasks does not represent an exhaustive
survey of maintenance steps necessary to
ensure safe operation of the equipment.
Particular applications may require further
procedures. Should further information be
desired or should particular problems arise
not covered sufficiently for the Purchaser's
purposes, the matter should be referred to
Siemens at +1 (800) 347-6659 or
+1 (919) 365-2200 outside the U.S.
For a quick reference to these tasks, refer
to periodic maintenance and lubrication
tasks in Table 8 on page 34.
