Does flame height
modulate High to Low?
No
1.) Ensure remote is paired to IFC. IFC will “beep” once when any command is
made on the remote hand held. If no “beep” is heard see page 16 “Remote
coding IFC only.”
2.) Verify modulator is connected to IFC at X6 terminal. Diagram 5b
3.) Is remote hand held in “SMART” thermostat mode? SMART mode will not
allow manual flame height control. “SMART” will be displayed in the top left
of the remote screen if selected. Page 4. Use the “mode” button on the
remote hand held to change from SMART to manual on/off or thermostatic
mode.
4.) Test modulator; set meter to resistance (ohms) in the lowest range possible.
Disconnect modulator from X6 terminal on IFC. Plug end of modulator will
have access to test on one side. Test between the black and brown wires,
then yellow and orange. Diagram 16. Each pair should read approximately
26 ohms, if there is infinite resistance or an open circuit, replace modulator.
Otherwise, move to next step.
5.) Was fuel type converted in the field? If yes, when old modulator was
removed was old diaphragm and spring removed? Diagram 19. If not,
remove old diaphragm & spring, re-assemble and test. Otherwise move to
next step
6.) If above steps have been followed and manifold pressure still doesn’t
change on command from remote, replace IFC.
