Flying particles can cause eye injury.
Power tools generate noise.
• Ear protection must be worn when tool noise level exceeds 85 dBA. We also recommend that ear protection be worn when the tool
noise level is below 85 dBA. See the tool’s information sheet for the noise level.
Appropriate controls to reduce the risk may include actions such as damping materials to prevent work pieces from “ringing”.
Always ensure that the muffler material is in the die grinder.
• Support the weight of the tool in a stand or balancer whenever possible.
• Hold the tool with a light but secure grip.
Always hold tightly enough to counteract reaction forces but know that the risks due to vibration are greater when the grip
force is higher.
• Operate and maintain the die grinder as recommended to prevent an unnecessary increase in the noise level.
Select, maintain and replace the inserted tool as recommended to prevent an unnecessary increase in the noise level.
Prolonged exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
Using this tool can cause the operator to experience discomfort in the hands, arms, shoulders, neck, and other place.
In order to help prevent this, the operator should nd a comfortable working positions that maintains secure grip and footing.
If the operator experiences pain, throbbing, aching, tingling, numbness, burning, or stiffness they should contact both the employer and
a physician.
Power tools vibrate.
• Excessive vibration can cause injury. If numbness, tingling, pain or whitening of the skin occurs, stop using tool and consult a
physician. See the tool’s information sheet for the vibration level.
• Exposure to vibration can cause disabling damage to the nerves and blood supply of the hands and arms.
Wear warm clothing when working in the cold conditions and keep your hands warm and dry.
• Operate and maintain the die grinder as recommended to prevent an unnecessary increase in vibration levels.

Usage Features

The die grinder is primarily designed for use with bonded abrasive mounted point grinding wheels. It can also be used with steel rotary files and carbide burrs, provided their speed rating matches or exceeds the grinder's speed. It is explicitly stated that the tool should not be fitted with cutting-off wheels, saw blades, or drill bits. Users must ensure that the shank size of the attachment matches the collet size and that the maximum allowed running speed of the attachment exceeds that marked on the grinder.

Air Supply: The tool's efficiency and lifespan depend on a proper supply of clean, dry air at a maximum of 90 PSI. An air line filter, pressure regulator, and lubricator are recommended. Before connecting to the tool, the air line should be blown out to remove water and dirt.

Operation: The die grinder operates in a clockwise direction. It is equipped with a locking-type lever to prevent accidental start-up. The speed can be adjusted by turning the regulator, located opposite the throttle lever.

Installing Mounted Wheels:

  1. Insert the mounted wheel into the collet, ensuring the wheel shank and collet size match. Avoid excessive overhang of the wheel beyond the collet.
  2. Hold the collet body with a 9/16" (14mm) wrench and the collet nut with a 3/4" (19 mm) wrench.
  3. Turn the collet nut to the right and firmly tighten the collet onto the wheel shank.

Removing Mounted Wheels:

  1. Hold the collet body with a 9/16" (14 mm) wrench and the collet nut with a 3/4" (19 mm) wrench.
  2. Turn the collet nut to the left and loosen the collet.
  3. Remove the mounted wheel.

Maintenance Features

Lubrication: All models can operate without airline lubrication, but doing so may reduce tool performance and vane life. If airline lubrication is not used, daily oiling is recommended to improve performance. Add 2-4 drops of air motor oil and run the tool for 10-20 seconds to distribute the oil. For maximum performance and tool life, an air line lubricator set to deliver 2 drops per minute is recommended, using Sioux Air Motor Oil No. 288.

General Maintenance: Water, dust, and other airline contaminants can cause rust and vane sticking. For long periods between uses, flush the tool with a few drops of oil and run it for 10 seconds to remove contaminants and reduce rust formation.

Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes numerous safety warnings, including:

  • Eye Protection: Proper eye protection must be worn at all times by the tool user and bystanders to prevent eye injury from flying particles.
  • Hearing Protection: Ear protection must be worn when the tool noise level exceeds 85 dBA.
  • Vibration Exposure: Excessive vibration can cause injury. Users experiencing numbness, tingling, pain, or skin whitening should stop using the tool and consult a physician.
  • Secure Grip: Hold the tool with a light but secure grip, ensuring enough force to counteract reaction forces while being aware that higher grip force increases vibration risks.
  • Workpiece Security: Secure the workpiece in a vice or with clamps whenever possible.
  • No Forcing: Do not force the tool, as it can be difficult to control.
  • No Tampering: Do not wire or tape down the "On-Off" valve of any power tool.
  • Regular Inspection: Keep the tool properly lubricated and in good repair. Inspect wheels for damage (chips, cracks) before mounting.
  • Speed Control: Check the tool's speed regularly with a tachometer without mounted accessories. Discontinue use if the tachometer reads faster than the rated speed.
  • Air Pressure: Do not exceed a maximum air pressure of 90 psig/6.2 bar. Use an air regulator to maintain proper air pressure.
  • Disconnection: Always disconnect the tool from the air supply before installing or removing wheels or making any adjustments.
  • Work Area: Keep the work area well lit and free of cleaning rags or items that could become entangled. Keep children and visitors at a safe distance.
  • Dust and Fumes: Ensure sparks and debris do not create a hazard. Do not breathe grinding dust; use an approved mask. Direct exhaust to minimize dust disturbance.
  • Electrical Safety: Do not use near live electric circuits. Be aware of hidden electric wires when drilling into walls.
  • Flammable Environments: Do not use the tool in flammable or explosive atmospheres.
  • Accessories: Use only accessories provided or specified by Sioux Tools.
  • Disposal: Dispose of the tool in a way that does not harm personnel or the environment.

The manual also includes EU declarations of conformity in English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch, and Swedish, affirming compliance with relevant EU harmonization legislation, including the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and standards for safety (EN ISO 11148-9:2011), vibration (EN ISO 28927-12:2012), and noise (EN ISO 15744:2008).
