a. Place the complete length of track guide onto a scrap workpiece that is at least
3/4” (19mm) thick.
b. Secure the track guide as described in
“Cutting with Track Guide”

two guide slot adjustment knobs of the saw according to

d. Adjustthesaw’sbevelangleto0°whenadaptingtheanti-splinteredgeon
90°bevelside(Fig.3a),andsetbevelangleto45°whenadaptingtheedgeon
45°bevelside(Fig.3b).
e. Set the cutting depth of your saw. Not more than one tooth length of the blade
shouldextendbelowtheanti-splinteredgetobecut.
f. Start the motor and wait until the blade is fully up to speed. Guide it uniformly
with a slow feed rate through the end of the track guide.

Cutting with Track Guide
WARNING
This track guide only suitable for 90° or 45° bevel cut. It will be
damaged if used for other bevel cut angles.
Theuseofatrackguideoffersprecise,straight,accuratecuts,eitherat90°or45°
bevelcuts.
Beforemakingtherstcutwiththetrackguide,therubberanti-splinteredgesonthe
guide must be adapted to the circular saw used.
TheSKILcircularsawCR5440B-00hasaguideslotonthebottomofitsfoottobe
used with this track guide.
a. Securetheworkpiecermly.
b. If you want to make straight cuts, place the guide onto the workpiece, making
surethe90°bevelsideoftheguidealignswiththecuttinglineyouhavedrawn
ontheworkpiece.Ifyouaremakinga45°bevelcut,alignthe45°bevelsideof
the guide with your cutting line (Fig. 4).

Connecting Two Track Guides
a. Turnthetrackguidesoverwithrubber
anti-splinteredgesfacingup.
b. Slide the track guide connector into
the slot of one of the track guides.
Approximately half length of the
connector should be inserted into the
track guide.
c. ThreadtwooftheprovidedM5set
screws into the screw holes in the
inserted part of the connector. Turn
the screws clockwise with the included
hex key to secure the connector in
place (Fig. 1).
NOTE:
4oftheM5screwsareinserted
into the screw holes on the track guide
connector at the factory. You will need
toloosenorremovethescrewsbefore
assembly.
d. Slide the other track guide onto the
connector until both track guides are
ushagainsteachother.Tightentwo
set screws to secure the two track guides (Fig. 2).
Preparing Track Guide
Priortousingatrackguideforthersttime,thetrackguide’srubberanti-splinter
edgesonbothsidesmustbeadaptedtotheSKIL7-1/4”CircularSawCR5440B-00
you use.

c. Insert track guide clamps into the slot
from each end of the track guide, then
tighten the clamps to secure the track
guide to the workpiece (Fig. 5).
WARNING
Only use the included
track guide clamps to
secure the track guide. Using any other
clamps may create a risk of injury and/or
property damage.
d. Slide the saw onto the track guide and
turn the guide slot adjustment knobs
of the saw clockwise to minimize the
gap between the slot in the saw foot
and the raised rib on the track guide,
and make sure that the saw can
slide freely on the track guide without
swinging sideways (Fig. 6).
e. Set the cutting depth 3/16” (5 mm)
deeper than the depth you desire, to
allow for the thickness of the track
guide.
WARNING
Before cutting with
the track guide, be
sure to firmly lock the bevel lock lever
and depth lock lever to avoid cutting into
the guide itself.
f. Switch on the saw and wait until
the blade reaches its full speed. Guide the saw uniformly with a slow feed rate
through the end of the track guide.
g. Take extra care when placing saw on portion of the track guide that extends
beyond the leading or ending edge of the workpiece.
h. Allowbladetocometoacompletestopbeforeremovingthesawfromtheguide.
NOTE: The anti-splinter edges are replaceable. Always replace the worn edges
with the new ones to minimize splintering of the workpiece.
Replacing Anti-splinter Edge
Theanti-splinteredgeshelpminimizesplinteringoftheworkpiece.Tofunction
properly, they must be replaced when they are worn or damaged. Use commercially
availableadhesiveanti-splinteredge(alsocalled“splinterguard”).
Storage
The hanging holes on the track guides are designed to hang the track guide(s) to
preventaccidentaldamage.
