The SMARTBoard® 7000 or 7000 Pro series interactive display is
the hub of your classroom or meeting room. PC-free embedded
computing provides one-touch access to collaborative tools,
including a whiteboard, wireless screen sharing and a web
browser. There’s no need for wires, cables or manual software
and firmware updates.
Waking up the display
The display’s presence detection sensor can detect people up to
16' (5 m) away when the display is sleeping. When the sensor
detects people, the display is ready to turn on. To turn on the
display, press the Power button on the convenience panel or
pick up a pen or the eraser.
Using the Home screen
The Home screen shows recent files and favorite apps and files.
Open the Apps Library from the Home screen to access the
Whiteboard, SMARTNoteboo Player and Browser apps.
NOTE
SMARTNotebook Player is available on education models only.
You can also open Screen Share, the Files Library and settings
from the Home screen.
To show the Home screen
Tap the Home button at the bottom of the screen.
Whiteboard
Using Whiteboard, you can write and erase notes on the display
just as you do on a traditional dry erase board. You can also save
your notes for later reference and share them using the
SMARTkapp® app.
To start a Whiteboard
Open the Apps Library and tap Whiteboard .
To write in digital ink
1. Pick up a pen.
2. Use the pen to write in digital ink.
3. Return the pen to its holder to recharge it.
To erase digital ink
Move a pen’s eraser over the digital ink.
OR
Move the eraser over the digital ink.
OR
Move your fist or palm over the digital ink.
To pan
Press the screen and move your finger in
any direction.
TIP
You can use the following tools during your Whiteboard
session:
Return to the previous screen.
Change the pen type, ink width and ink color
Connect your smart phone or other mobile device to
the display using the SMARTkapp app.
Disconnect your smart phone or other mobile device.
Save snapshots of the whiteboard to your smart phone
or other mobile device.
Save all notes in the Files Library and clear the
Whiteboard.

Overview

The SMART Board 7000 and 7000 Pro series interactive display serves as a central hub for classrooms and meeting rooms, offering a PC-free embedded computing experience with one-touch access to collaborative tools. This includes a whiteboard, wireless screen sharing, and a web browser, eliminating the need for wires, cables, or manual software and firmware updates.

Function Description

The device is designed to facilitate interactive learning and collaboration. It integrates several key functionalities:

  • Whiteboard: This feature allows users to write and erase notes digitally, similar to a traditional dry erase board. Notes can be saved for later reference and shared using the SMART kapp® app.
  • SMART Notebook Player: (Education models only) This enables users to open, view, and interact with SMART Notebook software files, present SMART Notebook files, and play SMART lab™ activities directly on the display. An iOS app is also available for viewing and controlling Notebook files from a mobile device.
  • Browser: A built-in web browser allows users to view web content directly on the display.
  • Screen Share: This feature facilitates wireless content sharing from computers and mobile devices. It supports Chromebook™ laptops (using Google™ Cast or Chrome™ browser extension), Windows® computers (using Miracast, Google Cast, Chrome browser extension, or AirParrot), Mac computers and iOS devices (using AirPlay), and Android™ devices (using Cast Screen).
  • Annotation Layers: When using the Browser or Screen Share app, users can write or draw on an annotation layer and save the screenshot to the Files Library.
  • Intel® Compute Card Integration: Specific models (SBID-7375, SBID-7386, SBID-7375P, and SBID-7386P) can house an Intel Compute Card, allowing the display to run the Intel Compute Card's Windows® 10 operating system.
  • Input Connectivity: The display offers various input options through its connector panel and convenience panel, allowing connection of room computers, guest laptops, and other input sources via VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort.

Usage Features

The SMART Board 7000 and 7000 Pro series are designed for intuitive and seamless interaction.

  • Waking up the Display: The display features a presence detection sensor that can detect people up to 16' (5 m) away when it's sleeping. Upon detection, the display is ready to turn on. Users can also press the Power button on the convenience panel or pick up a pen or eraser to wake it up.
  • Home Screen: This serves as the central navigation point, displaying recent files and favorite apps. From here, users can access the Apps Library (for Whiteboard, SMART Notebook® Player, and Browser), Screen Share, Files Library, and settings. The Home screen can be shown by tapping the Home button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Whiteboard Usage:
    • To start, open the Apps Library and tap Whiteboard.
    • To write, pick up a pen, write in digital ink, and then return the pen to its holder for recharging.
    • To erase, move a pen's eraser, a dedicated eraser, or your fist or palm over the digital ink.
    • To pan, press the screen and move your finger in any direction.
    • During a Whiteboard session, tools are available to return to the previous screen, change pen type/ink width/ink color, connect/disconnect smart phones via SMART kapp app, save snapshots to a smart phone, and save all notes to the Files Library while clearing the Whiteboard.
  • SMART Notebook Player Usage:
    • From USB Drive: Copy Notebook files to a USB drive, insert it into the convenience panel, open the Files Library, tap USB Files, and select the desired file.
    • Using Share To Board: Open the Files Library (a four-digit code will appear). On a computer, open the Notebook file, select File > Share > Share with a SMART Board. Click ADD BOARDS, enter the display's four-digit code, and click Connect (or select the display and click Share Now). Then, select the file's thumbnail to open it on the display.
    • Print to Board: Refer to the "Share to the Notebook Player app" instructions.
    • Navigation: Move between pages and documents using the Page Sorter button. Access different documents from the Home screen by tapping Files Library.
  • Browser Usage: Open the Apps Library and tap Browser. Use it like any standard web browser.
  • Annotation Layer Usage: Pick up a pen, write or draw in digital ink, then tap Close or Back in the command bar. To save, tap Save (or Discard to discard and return to the app).
  • Opening Saved Screenshots: Open the Files Library, tap Whiteboard Library, and select a screenshot's tile.
  • Input Switching: After connecting computers and other input sources, switch between them by showing the Home screen, tapping Input, and selecting the desired source.
  • Intel Compute Card View: From the Home screen, tap Input, then tap the Intel Compute Card's thumbnail.
  • Screen Share Usage: Show the Home screen, tap Screen Share, and then follow the instructions in "Using Screen Share" to share content from your device.
  • Convenience Panel: This panel provides buttons for turning the display on/off, controlling volume, freezing/unfreezing the screen, and connecting USB drives, peripherals, computers, or other input sources.

Maintenance Features

The device incorporates features to ensure ease of use and cleanliness.

  • Pen Recharging: Pens are recharged by returning them to their holders, ensuring they are always ready for use.
  • Cleaning up the Display: After use, users can show the Home screen and tap Clean Up to clear the display for the next user, promoting a tidy and ready-to-use environment.
