Remove
fill
and
drain
plugs
and
allow
grease
to
drain
out
before
disassembly
of
the
chain
case.
The
disassembled
chain
case
is
shown
in
the
exploded
view
on
page
3.4.
Components
of
the
disassembled
tiller
unit
are
depicted
in
figure
3.15.
STEP
1:
Remove
the
key
and
cone
washer
from
the
input
shaft.
(Figure
3.16).
STEP
2:
Remove
the
bolts
securing
the
case
halves
together.
(Figure
3.17).
STEP
3:
Remove
the
wear
plates.
Discard
and
replace
with
new
plates
if
worn.
(Figure
3.18).
STEP
4:
Remove
the
depth
bar
guide
plates
as
an
assembly.
(Figure
3.19).
STEP
5:
Separate
the
case
halves
as
shown.
Note
spacers
and
reinforcing
rib
being
pointed
out
in
figure
3.20.
STEP
6:
Lift
the
chain
sprocket
assembly
out
of
the
case
as
an
assembly.
(Figure
3.21).
STEP
7:
While
cleaning
inside
the
chain
case,
carefully
inspect
for
signs
of
damage
or
wear.
Replace
components
as
needed
as
follows.
