The
handles
of
rear
tine
tillers
can
be
subject
to
considerable
abuse
even
under
normal
operating
condi¬
tions.
Because
of
this
a
number
of
improvements
have
been
made
involving
the
handles.
The
back
up
plates
in
early
models
included
extruded
holes
which
showed
a
tendency
to
strip
(figure
5-1
A).
The
plates
now
include
weld
nuts
to
prevent
stripping
of
the
self
tapping
bolts
and
or
plates
(figure
5-1B).

areas
of
improvement
involved
the
handle
bracket
and
latch
brackets.
Early
8
HP
models
used
the
handle
bracket
handle
release
arrangement
shown
in
figure
5-2A.
Later
models
have
a
stronger
brackets
and
modified
release
rod
shown
in
figure
5-2B.
The
latch
bracket
(figure
5-3B)
was
made
thicker
and
later
models
use
a
nut
retainer,
cotter
pin
and
larger
diameter
washer
for
more
positive
retention
than
the
early
center
lock-nut
arrangement
shown
in
figure
5-3A.
