DO NOT use high pressure steam to disinfect the probe.
DO NOT use thermal disinfection! Temperatures higher than 66°C
or 150°F will damage the probe.
1. Ensure that all visible residues have been removed.
2. Prepare th e germ icide solutio ns accord ing to th e
manufacturer’s instructions . Ple ase also f ollow the
manufacturer’s instructions fo r sto rage and disposal of the
germicide.
3. Immerse the probe head into t he germicide for a time interval
specified by the germ icide manufacturer. The imm ersion level
should be kept below the bindi ng line. High level disinfection
is recommended for surface probes and required for
intracavitary probes. Note that you m ay need to rotate an d
shake the transducer in order to rem ove the air bubbles
between the transducer surface and the germicide solution.
4. After removing the probe from the germicide solution, rinse it
thoroughly with clean, potable wa ter to remove all visible
germicide. Dry the probe with a soft cloth.
