Metering Modes
The Sony Alpha A700 has three Metering
modes: Spot, Center-weighted, and Multi-
segment.
✦ Multi-segment metering. The
Sony Alpha A700 uses a 40-
segment metering system. There
are 39 sensors in a honeycomb
pattern for
the main
area and one
sensor that
covers the
surrounding
area. The
metering sys-
tem is linked
to the auto
focus system
so that the
main subject
is exposed
correctly.
✦ Center-weighted metering. The
entire scene is metered, but the
center of the scene is given greater
emphasis over the outer areas.
