“ManualREC” flashes in the display,
and
then press ENTER.

To switch back to the automatic
control, Press t44 or w
repeatedly until “Auto REC” flashes
in the display, and then press ENTER.
Play the source.
While observing the level meter in the
display, adjust the recording level by
pressing Irl( or H.
Set the level so that the meter
segments light up around the fifth
segment (- I2 dB) (the center of the
level meter) below the display
window.
If the sound is too high, lower the
recording level until the level meter
just barely reaches the ninth segment
(OVER) below the display window.

If
your source is an externally
connected component, be sure to cue
the source to the beginning of the
material to be recorded before you
start play back.

To switch back to automatic
level control
Select “Auto REC” in step 4.

If you press n during recording operation, the
recorder will revert to automatic recording
level adjustment mode the next time you start
a recording operation.
l
To set the recording level manually during
synchro-recording, do the procedure below.
1
Select “SYNC OFF” in step 3 of “Record an
MD.” (page 19).
2 Do steps 1 to 4 of manual recording
procedure. Then do steps 2 and 3, and select
“SYNC ON” in the synchro-recording
procedure (page 19).
Recording starts automatically whenever the
source sound is played.
l
You cannot switch from “Auto REC” to
“ManualREC” (or vice-versa) during
recording.
To stop recording
Press n . The recording level control is
switched back to automatic control when you
record the next time.
