Syncing
with
the
PCM-800
as
Slave
(With
the
DABK-801)
Once
the
same
time
code
has
been
recorded
on
both
the
master
and
slave
machines
you
can
synchronize
them.
Procedure
for
Synchronization
If
the
PCM-800
is
referenced
to
its
INT
(ernal)
clock
and
the
CHASE
MODE
DIP
switch
is
at
its
down/“Rechase”
position,
the
DABK-801
reads
the
master
and
slave
time
code
numbers,
compares
the
two,
and
issues
“speed-up”
or
“slow-down”
commands
to
the
PCM-800
continually
in
order
to
keep
the
two
machines
in
sync
(“resolving”
or
“phase
lock’).
If
the
PCM-800
is
referenced
to
the
WORD
or
VIDEO
clock,
the
slave
drops
into
“clock
sync”
when
the
difference
between
the
master
and
slave
time
code
numbers
decreases
to
a
certain
degree.
Whatever
the
clock
to
which
the
PCM-800
is
referenced,
if
the
CHASE
MODE
DIP
switch
is
set
to
its
up/“Free”
mode
position,
the
PCM-800
goes
into
its
normal
play
mode
once
synced
up
to
the
master.
If
you
intend
to
perform
a
synchronized
rehearse,
do
not
press
REHEARSAL
before
CHASE.
Once
REHEARSAL
is
pressed,
CHASE
cannot
operate.
1
Make
sure
of
the
following
:
*
Your
master
machine
is
correctly
connected
to
the
PCM-800/
DABK-801
system.
*
The
PCM-800/DABK-801
system
is
referenced
to
the
appropriate
clock.
If
a
VTR
is
the
master
and
the
CLOCK
key
is
set
to
VIDEO,
the
VIDEO
IN
connector
of
the
DABK-801
must
be
fed
with
a
signal
from
which
a
clock
can
be
derived
regardless
of
VTR
transport
status
a
signal
from
sync
generators,
pattern
generators,
etc.
If
for
example,
a
video
output
signal
is
connected
instead,
and
the
VTR
stops
playing,
no
clocks
are
available;
and,
when
play
resumes,
the
system
clock
of
PCM-
800
does
not
stabilize
in
time.
*
The
PCM-800
is
ID-numbered
“0.”
¢
The
CHASE
MODE
DIP
switch
is
set
to
the
desired
position.
*
If
you
are
in
doubt
about
the
type
of
time
code
in
use
on
the
tape
inserted
to
the
PCM-800,
verify
it
as
per
instructions
in
(4)
of
page
2-3.
