How to fix Sony VCR when playback picture does not appear?
    • A
      Anthony WilsonAug 13, 2025
If the playback picture doesn't appear on your Sony VCR, ensure your TV is set to the correct video channel or video input if you're using a monitor. Try adjusting the tracking using the $/4 TRACKING buttons. If the video heads are dirty, clean them using a Sony video head cleaning cassette. Avoid wet-type cleaning cassettes.

Why is my Sony SLV-T2000MN remote commander not working?
    • E
      ebaileyAug 17, 2025
If your Sony VCR's remote commander isn't working, ensure you're pointing it directly at the remote sensor on the VCR. Replace all batteries with new ones if they are weak. Also, verify that the COMMAND MODE selectors on both the VCR and the remote commander are set to the same positions. Ensure that your TV’s code number is set correctly.

What to do if Sony SLV-T2000MN tape starts playing as soon as it is inserted?
    • M
      Megan WilsonAug 21, 2025
If your Sony VCR tape starts playing immediately upon insertion, ensure the tape isn't at its end. Select the correct source with the INPUT SELECT button, choosing a programme position for TV programmes or “L1” or “L2” for other equipment. Verify that the clock is set, a tape has been inserted, and that the safety tab of the VHS tape has not been removed. Also, check that no timer recording programmes are set, and that your timer settings haven't already passed the current time. Ensure the decoder and satellite tuner are turned on. If the clock stops when the VCR is disconnected from the mains for more than one hour, reset the clock and timer.

Why does my Sony SLV-T2000MN VCR sound unstable or has an echo?
    • B
      Brian WilliamsAug 25, 2025
If you're experiencing unstable or echoing sound with your Sony VCR, and you're playing a tape with the same sound recorded on both hi-fi and normal sound tracks, make sure the VHS AUDIO MIX option in the SET UP MENU is set to OFF. Ensure your TV is set to the correct video channel, or video input if using a monitor. If the VCR is connected to the TV using only the aerial cable, ensure the RF MODULATOR option in the SET UP MENU is set to ON. Adjust the TV aerial. If the safety tab of the VHS tape has been removed, cover the tab hole. Check that the safety tab of the VHS has not been removed, or that the safety switch of the 8 mm tape has not been slid to show the red portion.

Also, the clock stops if the VCR is disconnected from the mains for more than one hour, reset the clock (and timer).
