Operation
1.
Make
sure
the
TIME dial
is turned off.
then
set
the
POWER
switch
on.
[The fan
will
turn
on
and continue
to
operate
whenever
the
POWER
switch is
on.)*
NOTE
Refrigerated
Centrifuges
ONLY:
It
is recommended
that the
chamber door be
kept
closed
when
the
centrifuge is not
in
use
to
prevent
condensation from
forming
in
die rotor
chamber.
2.
When the
OPEN
light
conies
on.
turn
the
door release
knob
clockwise,
and
open
the
chamber
door.
3.
Install the
rotor on
the
drive
shaft,
check
that
the
buckets
are
seated
properly
and
swing
freely
(if
applicable),
and close
the
door.
Turn
the
door release
knob
counterclockwise
until the
latches are
engaged.
CAUTION
Be
sure
the
rotor
is
properly
balanced and seated
on
the drive
spindle. See
individual
rotor
manual.
4.
Refrigerated
centrifuges
only:
Set
the CHAMBER TEMP
°C
dial
or
TEMP
dial
to
the
run
temperature desired.
5.
Set
the
BRAKE
switch to
ON
or
"I"
if
braking is desired.
6.
Set
the REV/MIN
x
1000
dial
or
SPEED
dial
to
the desired
run
speed.
NOTE
RT6000D/T6000D
and
RT6000B/T6000B
centrifuges
(SN
9101800
and
above):
The
settings on
the
REV/MIN
x
1000 dial
indicate actual
rotor
speed.
Verify
the
rotor
speed by
checking
the
REV/MIN
x
1000
indicator.
A
zero
speed
switch is
incorporated
in the
REV/MIN
x
1000
dial.
The
switch
prevents
rotor rotation
when
the
SPEED
dial
is
set
to
0
rpm,
even
if
the chamber
door is
locked
and
the
timer is
on.

Beginning
in
May
1992,50 Hz centrifuges
with serial
numbers
9101800
and
above
and all
60
Hz
centrifuges can
be retrofitted
with
a new
harness
that shuts
the fan
off
when
the
centrifuge is
in
standby
(power
ON
but
no run
in
progress).
To retrofit
a centrifuge,
order
update
kit PN 12947
(50
Hz centrifuges) or update
kit PN 12946
(60 Hz
centrifuges).
