The
settings on
the
SPEED
dial
are
for
reference
only.
To obtain
the
desired
rotor
speed,
adjust
the
SPEED
dial until
die
proper
speed
is
shown on
the
SPEED
indicator.
A
zero
speed
switch is
incorporated
in
the
REV/MIN
x
1000
dial.
The
switch
prevents
rotor
rotation
when
die
SPEED
dial
is
set
to
0
rpm,
even
if
the
chamber door is
locked
and
the
timer is
on.
7.
Set
the
TIME dial
to
the
desired
run
time.
The
rotor
will
accelerate
to
the
set
speed.
After
the
run
time
has
elapsed,
or
when
the
TIME
dial
is
manually
turned
off
(for
example,
if
time
was set to
or
HOLD).
the
rotor
will
decelerate to
0
rpm.
After the
rotor
has
stopped turning,
remove
it
as
follows:
1.
Leave
the
POWER
switch
set
on.
2.
When
the
OPEN
light
comes
on,
turn
the
door
release
knob
clockwise and
open
the
chamber
door.
3.
Remove
the
rotor,
close
the
chamber
door,
and
set
the POWER
switch
off.
NOTE
For
refrigerated centrifuges
only:
as long as
the
POWER
switch is
on,
the
refrigeration
system
will
continue
to cool
the
centrifuge chamber
to
the
temperature
set
on
the
CHAMBER TEMP
°C
dial.
If
the
chamber
door is
left
open,
condensation
may
form in the
chamber.

Running
Hazardous
Material
If
the
centrifuge
chamber
contains
vapors
or
aerosols
which
were
released
from
uncapped,
leaking or
broken
tubes,
those
vapors
will
be
released into
the
laboratory
area
by
the ventilation
system.
Therefore,
if
materials which
are pathogenic,
toxic or
otherwise hazardous
in
nature
are
run.
the
centrifuge
should
be
placed
in
a
biohazard
safety enclosure
and
operated
while
observing
all
appropriate safety precautions.
