3.
Before doing
the
rest
of
this
procedure,
make
sure
the
centrifuge
is
functioning
properly
by
performing a
test
run
at
the
maximum
speed
of
the
installed
rotor
with
a
set temperature
of-5°C
(for refrigerated centrifuges
only).
Wait
until
the
rotor
reaches maximum
speed.
For refrigerated
centrifuges,
let
the
run continue
until
the
displayed temperature
decreases
to
-5°C
and
remains
steady,
then
stop
the
run
(the brake should be
turned
ON).
For nonrefrigerated
centrifuges,
stop
the
run
after
the
rotor reaches the
set
speed
and
the
speed
remains
steady.
4.
Slow-Start
Function
Check
by
observing
a
slow
acceleration
of the
rotor.
The
rotor
should start
to
spin
slowly
0-0.5
seconds
after
setting
the
speed
control knob.
Transition
to
high
speed
occurs between
500
rpm
and
600
rpm.
5.
Speed
(RT/T6000B SNs
Below
9101800
and
RT/T6000
Only)
Check
the
speed
using
a
portable
tachometer
with
one
of the
following rotors
installed in
the
centrifuge: A-384. A-500,
an
empty
H-1000B.
or an
A/S-400
rotor*. Check
speed
at
1500
±100
rpm
and at
3000 ±100
rpm.
6.
Time
Check the
timer
at
the
ten (10)
minute setting using a stopwatch.
The
A/S-400
rotor
is not compatible
with the
RT-6000
or
T-6000
centrifuges.
