centrifuge,

A/S-400
rotor
can
then

1. Open
the
lid
and
remove
the
rotor.
2.
Remove
the
access
panel
(paragraph
5-33).
3.
Release
the
spring
tension on
the
drive
belt
by
loosening
the
adjusting nut on
the
retaining
hook
and
twisting
the
motor counterclockwise
(see
figure 5-7).
4.
From inside
the
rotor
chamber,
slide the white
plastic
cap
up
the
shaft
on
the
gyro
assembly
then
remove
the
gyro
seal (boot) and foam Insulating
ring.
5.
Remove
the
three
mounting
screws securing
the
gyro
assembly
to
the
drive
plate.
6.
Centrifuges
with
serial
number
8601093
and lower
only:
remove
the
nut securing
the
gyro
imbalance
bracket to
the
drive
plate.
7.
Slowly
lift
the
gyro
assembly
partially
out
while
maintaining
tension
on
the
drive
belt.
When
gyro
Is
lifted
sufficiently,
grasp
drive
belt
and
continue
to
hold
tension. Secure
the
drive
belt
to the
Up
of the
chamber
opening
with
a
bent
paper
clip to
prevent
the
belt
from
dropping
off the
motor
pulley
assembly.
Remove
the
gyro
assembly.
NOTE
Check
the
pulley
on
the
gyro
assembly
(see
figure 5-8).
If
it
is double-
grooved,
we recommend
you
order
Belt
and Pulley
Replacement Kit,
Cat,
No.
07728, to
upgrade
the
gyro
and
motor to
the
current single-grooved
pulley
configuration.
The
double
grooved pulley
and
drive
belt
are
obsolete
and
no
longer available.
