From
the
top
of the
gyro
assembly,
seat
wavy
washer
and then flatwasher into
gyro
housing.
Secure
the
snap
ring
above
the
flatwasher,
then
lower
the
plastic
cap.
7.
On
the
bottom of the
gyro
assembly,
slide
pulley
(PN
07921)
onto
the
shaft
(groove
side
positioned
toward
gyro
housing) so
that
it
seats against
the
shoulder
of the
shaft. Insert
Trantorque®
machine mount
(PN
68796).
gold
side
facing
toward
pulley,
so
that it
is
securely positioned against
pulley.
Securely
tighten
an
adjustable
wrench onto
the flats
on
the
gyro
shaft, above
the
plastic
cap,
to
keep
it
from
turning
(see
figure 5-18), then
place
the
5/8 inch
open-end
wrench onto
the
flats
of
the
TRANTORQUE
and firmly
tighten.

Gyro
Assembly
Installation
1.
Grasp
the
drive
belt
and
remove
the
paperclip securing
it
to
the
chamber
lip.
Position
the
drive
belt
on
the
gyro
pulley.
Lower
the
gyro
into
position,
being
careful
to maintain
the
tension
on
the drive
belt.
2.
Align
the
gyro
housing
with
the
imbalance detector
and
secure
the
gyro
assembly
in
place
with
the three
mounting screws
and
lockwashers
removed
in
step
6,
Section
b.
3.
Make
sure drive
belt did
not
get
twisted
during installation
by
turning
gyro
shaft
clockwise
-
the
motor
should
rotate
clockwise
also.
Reach
under
sides
of
drive
plate
and
make
sure
drive belt
is
in
groove
of
motor
drive
pulley
and
gyro
pulley.
Set
spring
tension on
drive belt
using
spring
tension
gauge
(PN
07650).
Tighten
or
loosen
the
adjusting nut
on retaining
hook to
obtain
proper
tension
(25-30
Ib).
5.
Centrifuges
serial number
8601094
and
higher,
check
that
the
set
screw
is
properly
positioned
above
the
imbalance detector
using
a
feeler
gauge
to
adjust
the
set
screw
so
that there is
a 1.1
mm (0.045 +0.005/-0.000
inch)
gap
between
the
bottom of
the
screw
and the
imbalance
detector.
Centrifuges
serial number
8601093
and
lower, replace
the
nut
securing
the
imbalance detector in
place.
6.
Replace
the
foam insulating
ring
and
gyro
seal,
Replace
the
access
panel.
Secure
the
access
panel
in
place using
the
four
screws
removed
in
Step
3
of
paragraph
b
(page
5-38). Be
sure to replace
the
grounding
lockwasher
to
the
lower
rear
screw.

Plug
in
the
centrifuge
power cord.
