a.
Remove
the
pulleys
by
loosening
the
two set
screws.
Use
a propane
torch to
heat each
pulley
(motor and
gyro)
to
loosen
the
Loctite®
adhesive,
if
necessary.
b.
Install
a
single
groove
drive
pulley
(Cat. No.
07727.
supplied)
onto
the
motor
and
gyro
as
follows
(see figure
5-10):
Motor:
place a
single
groove
drive
pulley
onto
the
motor armature
shaft
with
the
single
groove
side
of
the
pulley
placed
away
from
the
motor.
Gyro:
place a
single
groove
drive
pulley
onto
the
gyro
shaft
with the
single
groove
side
of
the
pulley
positioned
toward
the
gyro.
c.
Apply
Loctlte®
adhesive
(Cat.
No.
65811) to the
two set screws.
d.
Use
the
side
of the
pulley
height
gauge
(Cat. No.
07831)
marked
MOTOR
and
GYRO
accordingly,
to
measure
the
correct
distance
between
the
motor
and
the
pulley
or
the
gyro
and
the
pulley.
While
rocking
the
pulley
back and
forth
on
the
shaft, alternately tighten
the
two
set
screws so
that
each screw seats
properly
on
the flat
of the shaft
(see
figure
5-11).
3.
Align
the
scribe mark
on
the
end
bell with the scribe
mark on
the
motor
mounting
plate (11).
then tighten
the
three
mounting screws.
4.
Make
sure each motor
mounting
stud
has
a nylon
washer
on
it,
then
position
the
motor mounting plate
(with
motor) on
the
three
studs.
NOTE
Position
the
motor mounting
plate
so
that the
drive
belt
tension
spring
can
be
reconnected to
it
(see
figure
5-12).
5.
Next.
in
sequence,
place a
nylon washer,
a
metal
washer, a
spring,
another metal
washer,
then
a
nut
on
each
mounting
stud
(see figure
5-14)
and
finger-tighten.
6.
Install the
motor
drive
belt
(Cat. No.
68658)
as
follows:
a.
Use
a piece
of flexible
wire
(i.e..
two
strands
of
jumper
wire
twisted
together
for stifmess) about
38
mm
(15 inch)
long.
and form
a
"snake"
to
pull
the drive
belt
(9) into
position.
b.
Form
a
hook
at
one
end
of the
wire.
Place the hook
over
the belt
(9)
and bend
it
to
hold
the belt
securely.
c.
Insert
the
"snake"
beneath the drive
plate
(23) and
push
it
through to
the
opening
in the
chamber
(figure
5-12).
d.
Pull the
wire
through the
opening
until
the belt
(9)
is
visible.
Hook the
wire
"snake"
over
the
edge
of the
drive
plate
(25)
to
hold the belt
(9)
temporarily
in
position.
e.
Engage
the
other end of the belt
(9) in
the
groove
of the drive
motor
pulley
(10).
