Maintain tension
on
the drive
belt
(9) to
keep
the
belt
seated
in the
motor
pulley
(10) and
grasp
the other end of the
belt.
Remove
the
wire
"snake"
from
the
belt.
g.
Position
the belt
(9)
on
the
gyro
pulley.
h.
Lower
the
gyro
into
position,
being careful to
maintain
the
tension
on
the
drive
belt. Secure
the
gyro
into
place
with
each
of
the three
mounting
screws
(5).
1.
Centrifuges
serial
number
8601094
and
higher,
check that the
set
screw
is
properly
positioned above
the
imbalance detector
using a
feeler
gauge
to
adjust
the
set
screw so
that
there is
a 1.1 mm
(0.045
+0.005/-0.000 inch)
gap
between
the bottom of
the
screw
and the
imbalance
detector.
Centnfuges
serial
number
8601093
and
lower, replace
the
nut
securing
the
imbalance detector in
place.
NOTE
Check that the belt
has
not become
twisted
during
installation
by turning
the
gyro
shaft
clockwise.
The
motor
should
also
rotate clockwise.
j.
Reach
under
the sides of the drive
plate
and
check
the
drive belt
is in the
groove
of
the
motor
drive
pulley
and
gyro
pulley.
7.
Set
the
tension
of the
motor
belt:
a.
Attach the drive belt
tension
spring
to the
motor mounting
plate (11).
b.
Loosen locking
nut.
Adjust
the
spring
tension
on
the drive belt
using
the
spring
tension
gauge
(PN
07650)
as
shown in figure
5-13.
Tighten
or
loosen
the
adjusting
nut
on
the
retaining
hook
to
obtain
proper
tension
(25-30
Ib).
Tighten
locking
nut.
8.
Tighten
the
three
motor
mounting
nuts
securely,
then back
off
one
turn to
achieve
the correct tension
for the
plate.
9.
Check
that
the
belt
microswitch
SW5
was not damaged
or
bent while
adjusting
the
belt
tension.
The
microswitch should
be positioned
against
the
motor
mounting
plate.
10. Plug
the
motor
cables into the
harness
connectors.
Attach
ground wire
to the
motor.
11. Replace
the
foam
insulating
ring
(4) and the rubber
gyro
seal
(3).
Position the
plastic
gyro
cover (2)
over
the
seal.
12.
Put
the
access
panel
back
on
the
centrifuge.
Remember to
put
the
grounding
lockwasher
in
place.
13.
Plug
in
the
centrifuge
power cord.
