Install the
motor
drive belt
(Cat.
No.
68658)
as
follows:
a.
Use
a piece
of flexible
wire
(i.e..
two strands
of
jumper
wire twisted
together
for
stiffhess) about
38
mm
(15
inch)
long,
and form
a
"snake"
to
pull
the
drive
belt
into
position.
b.
Form
a
hook
at
one
end
of the
wire.
Place
the
hook
over
the belt
and
bend
it
to
hold
the
belt
securely.
c.
Insert
the
"snake"
beneath
the
drive
plate
(23) and
push
it
through
to the
opening
in
the
chamber (figure
5-12).
d.
Pull the
wire
through
the
opening
until
the belt
is
visible. Hook
the
wire
"snake"
over
the
edge
of
the
drive
plate
to
hold the belt
in
position
temporarily.
e.
Engage
the other
end
of
the
belt
in
the
groove
of the drive
motor
pulley.
f.
Maintain
tension on
the
drive belt
to
keep
the belt
seated
in the motor
pulley
and
grasp
the other end
of the
belt. Remove
the
wire
"snake"
from
the
belt.
g.
Position the
belt
on
the
gyro
pulley.
h.
Lower
the
gyro
into
position,
being
careful
to
maintain the
tension
on
the
drive
belt. Secure
the
gyro
into
place
with
each
of the three
mounting
screws.
1.
Put the
nut and
lockwasher
onto
the
gyro
Imbalance bracket
(6).
and
secure
the
bracket
to
the shock mount
on
the drive
plate.
NOTE
Check
that the
belt
has
not
become
twisted
during
installation
by
turning
the
gyro
shaft
clockwise.
The
motor
should
rotate
clockwise
also.
j.
Reach
under
the
sides
of
the drive
plate
to
check that the
drive
belt
is
in the
groove
of the
motor
drive
pulley
and
gyro
pulley.
11.
Set the
tension
of the
motor
belt:
a.
Attach the drive belt
tension
spring
to
the
motor mounting
plate
(11).
b.
Adjust
the
spring
tension on
the drive belt
using
the
spring
tension
gauge
(PN
07650)
as
shown in figure
5-13.
Loosen
locking
nut.
Tighten
or loosen
the
adjusting
nut
on
the
retaining
hook
to
obtain
proper
tension
(25-30
Ib).
Tighten locking
nut.
12.
Tighten
the
three
motor mounting
nuts
securely,
then back off
one turn
to
achieve
the
correct
tension for
the
plate.
13.
Check
that
the
belt
mlcroswltchSW5was not
damaged or
bent while
adjusting
belt
tension.
The
microswitch
should
be positioned
against
motor
mounting
plate.
